Many clay oil lamps burning on woven bamboo trays scattered across a floor, their flames glowing warm orange in the dim light. Several lamps are stacked in tiers, and some trays are unlit. A figure in a red and gold patterned garment stands at the upper right edge of the frame. No faces are visible in the foreground, and the scene suggests a Karthigai Deepam lamp-lighting arrangement, with lamps set out for the festival.2017-12-02Close photograph of many lit clay oil lamps (deepams) set on round woven bamboo trays on the ground at night, their flames glowing warm orange. A partially visible person's bare arm, wearing a bangle, reaches in at the right edge to tend the lamps.
