December 24 20112011-12-24Outdoor photo at dusk of a large crowd standing in rows on bare dirt ground with palms in the background. Many people in front have their hands joined in namaskar or anjali mudra. Women wear saffron and orange saris and white saris with yellow or red borders; men wear white kurtas, white dhotis and khaki shirts, one in an orange shirt. A tall yellow pole on the right holds a decorated cloth banner with colorful floral patterns and orange fringe, near a red metal framework. The scene suggests a ritual gathering, but no specific person is clearly identifiable as a person.2010-11-21December 17 20102010-12-17March 02 20182018-03-02July 24 20142014-07-24December 17 20102010-12-17A photograph inside a dimly lit open hall with a corrugated metal roof. On the left, a golden arched frame surrounds a deity murti with a red-garmented figure and a standing figure beside it, behind a gold curtain. In the foreground, a line of devotees stands with hands together, mostly women in white clothes with orange scarves and lanyards, plus a few men in white on the right. A striped woven mat lies on the orange floor, and a small wooden stand with a book is at right. Some people wear saffron or orange sarees and shawls.2013-03-18A photograph of a large crowd of devotees standing outdoors at dusk with palms pressed together in anjali mudra. In the foreground a woman in a purple top and white skirt stands with hands joined, flanked by a man in a white dhoti and a man in a white shirt with a mala. Others in white kurtas and sarees fill the courtyard, with palm trees, a red pillar and a low building behind. A bare-legged devotee at centre wears a white dhoti and shawl with curly hair. Several people wear rudraksha-style malas. Terracotta-coloured floor mats and hexagonal paving sit under the crowd. No one is identifiable as a person from appearance alone.2010-12-22May 08 20162016-05-08Night photograph of a large crowd standing in an open dirt ground under a dark sky with a silhouetted tree line behind them. Many people wear white ritual clothing: men in white dhotis and shirts, some in light blue shirts, and women in white saris, plus a few in pink, blue, orange and green saris. Several women wear orange shawls. Most stand with hands folded or arms crossed, facing toward the left edge of the frame where a light glows. Floodlight poles stand in the background. The gathering is large and fills the width of the frame.2006-12-20Outdoor evening scene at dusk beneath dark palm trees, with a large group of people standing in a loose semicircle on bare earth. Many women wear orange, red-bordered white, and yellow saris, while men wear white dhotis and shirts, saffron robes, and tan or pink shirts. Several people press their palms together in prayer. On the left, a man in saffron robes with a shaved head stands near a figure in orange robes, and a drum is visible in the middle of the group. Small stone figures and green shrubs line the ground at the left. Several people are visible in the background. The orange-robed figure on the left has a shaved head and a short beard, which does not meet the cue threshold for identification, so no identification is made.2010-11-21Outdoor dusk ritual in a palm-lined courtyard at night. On the left, a tall lit oil lamp stands on a white pedestal beside an orange-red stepped platform. A white-clad figure and several monks in saffron robes tend a small table with offerings and burning lamps. A line of devotees stands in a row on the right: women in orange and white saris with hands folded in anjali, and men in white dhotis with yellow shawls. Round kolam-like patterns are drawn in the dirt in front of the line. The scene reads as a deepam lamp-lighting for Karthikai Deepam.2010-11-21
