A seated priest in orange robes and a patterned cap sits behind a white brick fire pit, with brass vessels, flowers, a pot and a small deity murti arranged in front. Rows of seated people in white and orange clothing, including young children and women in saffron, sit on mats facing the fire. A young man in white and orange stands at the right edge, and a few people in white kneel near the front. Hanging decorative banners and a small screen are visible on the walls.2007-10-12A homa is performed inside a hall with a white-tiled fire altar of stacked bricks at the centre, flames rising from it and rose petals scattered on the bricks. A man in saffron-orange robes and an ornate patterned crown sits at the right side of the altar, handling a plate of offerings and a ritual vessel. Around him, many people in white ritual clothes sit on the floor and stand, while women in saffron, red and green saris sit at the left. In the foreground, rows of clay pots, coconuts and brass plates hold offerings of white and coloured ritual powder with decorated paper-and-straw fans in yellow, green, blue and magenta. Behind them, a large crowd of men and women, many in white clothes and some in orange, sits on mats and holds folded hands, with small oil lamps lit along the front row. At the right edge, a seated figure in saffron-orange robes with long hair sits on a raised seat beside a trident; the figure's distinctive adornments are visible, and the appearance is uncertain. Striped banners and decorated pillars line the hall, and colourful deity murti and painted arches are behind them.2007-01-01Photograph of a devotee gathering in a whitewashed hall decorated for Navaratri with strings of small lights along the ceiling and colourful woven banners hanging on the walls. Rows of people sit cross-legged on striped mats facing a central altar with a deity murti and a seated figure in saffron robes. Many attendees wear white clothes, while women wear bright saffron, pink and red saris. Shelves hold rows of small figurines and a small brass lamp flame burns near the front.2007-10-13A seated group of young boys and men in white ritual clothes sit in rows on striped mats inside a corrugated-roof hall at an ashram. Many wear white kurta-style garments and some wear saffron or orange robes. In the left foreground, boys sit behind brass bells, bowls and pooja vessels. A green-draped altar holds a deity murti decorated with flower garlands and a framed portrait of a person in orange robes, with a plant beside it. Hanging saffron and patterned fabric banners with dove motifs decorate the ceiling. A figure in orange robes sits at the far right edge near the front. A printed caption on the altar reads 'Amarananda Maha Sankalpam'.2007-10-14A photograph of a large hall with a corrugated roof and white walls, where a group of devotees sits on the floor in rows facing a central seated figure. The central figure wears a saffron-orange robe and sits on a red cushioned seat before a golden lion-shaped throne-like seat. Many attendees wear orange and white garments, and a few wear white saris and white kurtas. A cameraperson in an orange-trimmed white outfit films from the right side. Tall decorative pillars wrapped in colourful patterns stand around the hall, and framed photographs and posters hang on the back wall. Roughly two dozen people are visible.2008-10-07October 12 20072007-10-12Photo of a large indoor hall with a corrugated metal roof and steel trusses, where a seated congregation sits on mats and rugs in rows. Many participants wear white clothing, and several young people in white and red sit at the front near brass oil lamps, bells and small silver-coloured vessels arranged on the floor. A few women wear orange, red and blue saris. Hanging decorative banners with geometric patterns and bird motifs line the walls. A white plastic chair stands at the left edge beside a small wooden stool. The scene suggests a puja or satsang gathering, with an oil lamp lit before the group. No individual can be identified from appearance, and no candidate for a person is clearly visible.2007-10-15December 26 20082008-12-26
