A large crowd of devotees, many in white dhotis and white shirts with red-orange shawls, and others in saffron-orange robes, stand and kneel on a paved floor marked with white kolam-style patterns. Many have hands pressed together in namaskar, and small brass vessels sit on the ground in front. On the left, an ornate golden palanquin or throne area holds seated figures in red and gold garlanded attire. Flower garlands hang along the right side. Several people are partly visible at the edges, so the crowd is large.2017-02-23A photograph of a temple ritual in an open-sided hall with a corrugated metal roof. In the foreground, several women in white saris with coloured borders sit on a woven mat, tending rows of brass oil lamps and a tall multi-tiered brass lamp, some with lit flames. Behind a long metal table, four young men stand in orange saffron shawls and white garments, several wearing orange and gold-coloured beaded garlands; one stands in white with an orange shawl at the far right.
