A photograph of a courtyard-style gathering in which a young boy in orange monastic robes leans forward to look at a brown, fibrous coconut held in the open palm of a seated man wearing cream-white clothes and a red-and-beige beaded mala. Beside them, a woman in a blue and purple striped sari with a beaded necklace holds a white enamel mug and rests her hand on a brown notebook. Another hand holding a light blue mug appears at the top of the frame, and an orange cloth is visible in the background. The man's face is not visible, so no identity can be attributed from appearance.2017-02-01February 01 20172017-02-01 +1 copiesA young boy with short dark hair, wearing an orange saffron wrap and a thin silver chain, sits cross-legged and reaches toward a brown coconut held in the open palm of an adult seated in white clothing. In the foreground a figure in an orange robe with long dark hair, and a person in white beside them, hold and offer items over the altar, which is decorated with white flowers and dried grass. A brass bowl with a wooden ladle sits on the altar. Several young boys in white and light shirts sit close together, one holding a small brass vessel. Behind them adults in white and pale clothes watch, some wearing glasses, and a man with a rudraksha-style bead necklace is seated among them. A homa-style fire ritual with a Gurukul initiation feel is visible, with the presiding robed figure matching the orange-robed appearance of a person.2006-10-02Indoor photo of a long-haired man in a sleeveless saffron-orange garment seated on an orange cushioned seat with a yellow cloth, smiling and extending his hand toward a small child in white who reaches up toward a man in white with an orange shawl. Behind them, a woman in a red-and-white saree with a red bindi and bangles stands with hands folded, and a woman in a cream saree with green border and a rudraksha mala looks on. Other people in white stand in the background of a hall with a tiled floor, and a tray of sweets sits at the left edge.2010-06-30August 31 20152015-08-31Photo 11729742
