Garlands of yellow marigolds and red flowers hang on the pillar. The man at left reaches up with a rope or cord, the man at centre grips the pillar top, and a third man on the right with a wristwatch and folded cloth over his shoulder looks on. Coconut palms and greenery fill the background, with a few onlookers at the lower edge.2014-09-09August 31st 20142014-08-31September 08 20152015-09-08 +2 copiesOutdoor ritual photograph beside a tall ornate copper-toned pillar wrapped with yellow and maroon flower garlands and a carved panel. Two men in saffron-orange robes handle a rope: a man with long dark hair and a beaded rudraksha-style mala raises a saffron cloth bundle on the rope, while a shaved-headed man in saffron cloth holds the rope and a round wicker tray.Outdoors under a bright sky with scattered clouds and tall palm trees behind. In the foreground a tall copper-clad ceremonial flagstaff with a carved wooden base rises on the left. Beside it a man in saffron-orange robes and a rudraksha mala stands on the right, pulling an orange rope that runs up the pole, as the flag is raised. A second person in orange robes, shown only at the right edge, holds a brass plate. The scene suggests a flag-hoisting ritual.2010-10-18 +1 copiesOutdoor photograph of a copper temple flag-pole or ornate copper pillar wrapped in rope and decorated with yellow marigold garlands and pink flowers. The bald man on the right, with garlands and a shawl, holds out a brass plate. A man in an orange-red saffron robe and a gold-beaded necklace stands beside a tall copper-coloured ornate flagstaff, his right hand gripping an orange rope wound around the pole. His head is bowed slightly and his hair is pulled back. At the right edge, the arm and orange robe of another person are partly visible in the foreground. A palm frond appears at the right, and carved figures decorate the base of the pole.2010-10-18 +1 copiesNovember 06 20102010-11-06Outdoor photo beside a tall bronze-coloured ceremonial pillar wrapped with yellow and magenta flower garlands, with a carved relief panel and a small dark stone figure at the left. A figure in an orange robe with a tan shawl bows forward, head down, holding an orange-wrapped object against the pillar, a gold-coloured bead necklace at the chest. Two more men in orange and white robes stand at the right edge, one bald and one with a shaved head, looking on. Palm trees and a pale sky sit behind. The orange-clad figure's identity is uncertain from appearance; the shaved-headed men are priests or devotees in saffron and white.2010-10-07
