A large outdoor procession on a dirt road moves past a low wall. A decorated palanquin with a gilded canopy, bells, marigold and white flower garlands, and multicoloured tassels is carried forward. A man in a saffron-orange robe stands at the front of the palanquin beside a second figure in orange, and an attendant in white stands behind it with a fan. Crowds of devotees, mostly women in white or cream saris and men in white kurtas, hold up many red-orange triangular flags and rectangular placards printed in Kannada with a portrait of a bald-headed saffron-robed sannyasi. One sign in English reads 'Stop abusing my faith, stop abusing my guru' and another reads 'Nithyananda family victims of religious persecution'. Police in khaki uniforms walk along the edges. Some women wear circular rosette badges printed with the same portrait. Watermarked archive image.
