A photograph of a man in a white kurta with a rudraksha mala, holding lit incense sticks over a gold-rimmed tray set with a red apple, a silver puja plate and red flowers. Another person in an orange garment and red-bordered cloth sits at the left edge, their bare feet visible in the foreground. The scene suggests a puja offering. The man wears dark-rimmed glasses and a ring. Possible a person candidate: the man in white with long dark hair, a rudraksha mala and no visible crown or saffron robe; appearance is uncertain, so role is given as priest.2011-11-15November 15 20112011-11-15November 15 20112011-11-15November 15 20112011-11-15A photograph of an outdoor ritual on sandy ground under a tree. A long-haired man seated cross-legged in a white dhoti and a gold-bordered shawl wears a dark rudraksha mala with a gold ornament and a yellow flower in his hair, eyes closed and hands in a mudra. Beside him a younger man in a white kurta sits with palms pressed together in prayer. Standing figures in white clothing are behind them. In front lie brass vessels, a kalasha-style pot, a bowl of pink and yellow flowers, a small brass lamp and a white-draped low table at right. Swamiji candidate (probable): the seated long-haired man wears a rudraksha mala, gold ornament and shawl, consistent with an appearance-based cue, and is leading the ritual.2005-01-24A photo of a man in a white kurta with a rudraksha mala performing a ritual with a small silver oil lamp (aarti) held in his right hand, flame lit, while his left hand is placed over his chest. He has shoulder-length dark hair and glasses. In the foreground, a person in an orange and gold garment sits on a red cushioned seat, with a silver plate holding an apple and flowers on a gold-trimmed table. Appearance-based candidate: Swamiji (probable), a long-haired man in white with rudraksha beads, performing aarti.2011-11-15A photograph of a long-haired man seated before an ornate gilded throne with carved golden scrollwork. He wears a white and gold-bordered garment, a long gold bead necklace, and a white forehead marking, and raises one palm toward a balding, grey-haired man in white clothing with a red cord around his neck, who holds his own hand up in return. Orange and yellow marigolds and white flowers fill the background. The seated man's appearance, with long swept-back dark hair, ornate gold jewellery and throne setting, is consistent with the Swamiji (probable) candidate, so the figure is treated as Swamiji (probable) receiving a blessing gesture; this is an appearance-based label only.2010-12-06A photograph of a ceremonial moment in a hall. A man in white shirt and white trousers, with a rudraksha mala, leans forward and offers yellow flower petals or grains from his hands toward a seated figure. The seated figure sits on an ornate gold throne with carved details, wears a rust-red robe, a long rudraksha mala and a gold necklace, and has a long swept-back hair knot and forehead markings. In front is a large silver bowl of yellow petals resting on a banana leaf, with a vase of flowers and a standing fan nearby.2014-09-13A photograph of a padukapuja-style devotional moment in a hall with red carpet. In the foreground a woman in an orange-red sari with a beaded red-and-gold necklace and bangles sits on the floor, extending her hand to a man in a checked orange-and-blue shirt who kneels beside a man in a white striped shirt and glasses holding a small yellow fruit. A golden object with an orange cloth lies in the lower foreground. Behind them, a woman in a white sari with orange border stands, and several people in white and orange robes move about near a stage with monitors.2014-11-07September 13 20142014-09-13A photograph of a seated figure in an orange-brown sannyasi-style saree and orange-brown shawl, wearing a long garland of white, pink and red flowers and a gold necklace, long dark hair falling loose. The figure leans forward on a throne-like seat with a golden-framed backrest and a gold lion-form footrest, extending one hand to the crown of a kneeling man in a white kurta with an orange shawl, who holds his palms together. The seated figure holds a white rod or wand, apparently performing a blessing or padapuja-style ritual. Behind them, several people in white and orange clothing sit on the floor, a potted peace lily and tasselled red and white canopy frame the scene, and a projection screen shows greenery in the background.2012-12-20May 06 20162016-05-06
