A group of young women and children sit cross-legged on woven mats in an outdoor setting, arranging flowers on banana leaves. Many wear red dresses with gold borders and rudraksha beads, while others wear saffron-orange garments. They sort yellow marigold blossoms, red and orange rose petals, and green leaves onto the leaves, with a few sprigs and loose petals scattered on the mats. Some have white sacred markings on their foreheads and hair pulled back in buns. The scene suggests preparation of floral offerings for a ritual.2013-12-22Photograph of a large group of young women seated on the ground in orange saffron robes with pink-red borders, many with white forehead markings and rudraksha beads around their necks. Each boy has white markings on the forehead and arms and sits before a banana leaf heaped with yellow and red flower petals, which they sort and pick over with their hands. Palm trees, a corrugated roof and a red wall stand behind them under bright sunlight.
