Outdoor temple courtyard scene with a tall silver trident (trishul) standing upright at centre. A man with long dark hair, bare-chested under a saffron-red wrap and wearing a heavy gold necklace and dark rudraksha mala, walks forward; his appearance is consistent with a person candidate, with the qualifying cues of long swept-back hair, saffron clothing, rudraksha mala and ceremonial gold necklace, though the attribution remains uncertain. Around him are devotees in white and yellow-bordered dhotis or sarees, one woman in an orange-red sari with a bindi, and several men in white shirts with yellow shawls. Beside him a man in an orange robe with rudraksha malas and a ceremonial sceptre-like staff stands in the group. Other men wear white dhotis and black or white turbans, several with rudraksha beads and ash markings. Behind them a tall white gopuram temple tower rises, with onlookers gathered along a railing and a crumbled stone embankment to the right.
