Night photograph of a temple water tank or pool at a festival, with rows of oil lamps lining the stepped stone ghats on the far bank and reflected in the dark water. Strings of small lights hang along the upper terrace. A few dim figures stand along the steps and near the water's edge, while a bright floodlight and a dark structure appear at the right side.

A dark night photograph of a wet, reflective road or pathway receding toward a distant cluster of lights. Two bright lamps glow at the sides of the path and a faint light sits on the far left. Near the vanishing point a few indistinct silhouettes stand near a vehicle with headlights on, but figures are too dim and blurred to identify. The scene is mostly black shadow with the ground reflecting light from the lamps.

A blurred, long-exposure night view of a riverside ghat in Varanasi. Warm street lamps and illuminated shop fronts glow along the bank, their lights reflected in dark rippling water in vertical gold streaks. Silhouetted buildings and trees line the skyline under a deep blue night sky. No people are visible in the frame.

A night photograph of a distant hillside village in the Himalayas, with scattered electric lights glowing against a dark, nearly black sky and mountain slope. Clusters of lit houses and a few roadside lights trace a winding path through the settlement. No people or ritual activity are visible.

A photograph taken at dusk or twilight along a wide, calm river with dark hills on the left. Warm lights from a riverside town with temple structures and buildings reflect on the water. A large dark rock sits near the right edge, and a patterned cloth is visible at the bottom right corner. The sky is deep blue with a few faint stars. No people are visible.

Night photograph of a stone-lined water tank or pond with still dark water reflecting bright floodlights and a row of illuminated decorative lights on a structure at the far bank. A stepped stone embankment runs along the left edge, a palm tree stands at the right, and bright spotlights glow in the distance. No people are clearly visible.

A night photograph of a low red-brick ashram building with a row of lit windows and a gabled entrance porch. A stone-paved path leads up steps to the lit doorway, flanked by potted plants, banana-style leaves and small ground lights along the lawn. Two figures in light clothing stand near the entrance under a decorated archway.

Night photograph of a river waterfront. In the foreground a small dark boat with a canopy sits at the water's edge, with another boat partly visible at lower left. No people are visible, and no ritual or a person presence can be seen in the scene.
