July 31 20152015-07-31Outdoor abhishekam at a large flower-covered mound. A man seen from behind in a rust-red turban, red-and-gold rudraksha-style beaded necklace and garlands, and a mustard-yellow and maroon shawl pours milk from a silver vessel onto a heap of mixed petals in orange, yellow, white and red. Behind him another figure in orange robes stands near the mound. Rows of seated devotees in white and orange clothing fill tiered seating in the background, with a small water pool to the right.2015-07-31A seated figure with long swept-back dark hair and a red bindi, wearing an orange saffron robe, a multi-strand ornate gold necklace and rudraksha beads, sits on a throne heaped with white jasmine petals, yellow marigolds and red roses, with large garlands behind him. A man in a white shirt bows low with his head pressed to the flowers before the throne, while the seated figure smiles and raises one hand in blessing. Probable Swamiji, the seated figure, is distinguished by the long hair, saffron robe and gold ornaments, and is being honoured by a devotee at a flower-decked dais.2012-07-03June 10 20132013-06-10Outdoor foundation-laying ceremony under a canopy of striped and tasselled cloth with mango-leaf festoons. Foreground, a man in white shirt and trousers kneels in a sand pit, pouring a pink flower over yellow bricks laid in the foundation, with kolam-style coloured rangoli patterns on the ground. Center, a tall man in saffron-orange robes and an orange turban wears a white and multicoloured flower garland and stands at the pit's edge, facing down. Behind, a bare-shouldered elder in an orange garment with a flower garland and another man in cream cloth are present, with white-clad devotees and a metal pot nearby.2006-11-24A floral-decorated float (ratha) carrying a seated figure in orange robes with a red cushion and gold throne moves through shallow water in front of tiered red stone steps lined with black pillar-like stands. The float is draped with white and orange-red garlands, a yellow fringed canopy overhead, and a yellow-and-red circular flower motif on the backdrop. A figure with long dark hair and a red garland, holding a microphone, sits on the throne. Around the float, many men in white dhotis and white shirts, some wearing yellow shawls and rudraksha malas, wade through the water escorting it. One figure in the foreground wears a white wrap and a rudraksha mala. This appears to be a procession during the Dasara celebrations.2010-10-17Outdoor water ritual at a temple tank with striped red-and-white steps behind. A tall figure in long loose orange robes stands barefoot on a flower-decorated floating platform draped in red cloth, its garlands of marigolds, orchids and palm fronds in bright colours. Several people in orange or white clothes, some with yellow shawls, stand waist-deep in the water, pouring water from brass vessels and bowls over the platform, a ritual consistent with abhishekam. A man in a brown shirt and rudraksha beads stands at the right edge, and a bald man in white is visible at the far right. Onlookers in the water and on the steps watch. Palm trees and a bright overcast sky appear above. The date and site are given by the page, not visible in the scene.2009-07-08Photograph of a long-haired man seated on an ornate throne covered in white, yellow, orange and red garlands and flower strands. He wears an orange-saffron robe draped over his shoulders and lap, a white and multicoloured flower garland, and a red tilak on his forehead, smiling as he sits with bare feet on a silver lotus-shaped stool. Attendants in white and a partially visible person in white and yellow stand beside the throne, one reaching toward the robe. The throne has a red velvet backrest and gold lion-shaped armrests. Swamiji (probable): the long swept-back hair, saffron robe, garlands and ornate throne match the page's described Gurupoornima celebration at a seated, honoured figure.2007-07-29Outdoor bhumi puja ceremony. A man with long dark hair, a full beard and a long multicoloured flower garland, wearing a rust-brown robe, pours water from a large brass kalasha into a dug earth pit. Around him stand bare-chested young men with rudraksha malas, some in orange and teal dhotis, and a man in a white dhoti with gold border and a bag. A drummer in orange dhoti plays a white drum at right. Red and green rangoli-style powder decorates the ground beside the pit, with scattered flower petals. Plants and a red brick wall form the background.2016-11-23November 24 20062006-11-24January 01 20182018-01-01 +1 copiesJune 17 20132013-06-17
