December 09 20132013-12-09A photograph of an altar-like shrine on a red carpet. A framed portrait labelled "PARAMAHAMSA NITHYANANDA" shows a smiling man in an orange turban with a red bindi, set in ornate gold frame, flanked by golden lion figures and resting on a tiger-skin-patterned orange throne. Large banners behind show a smiling man in orange turban and a pagoda-style temple. In the foreground a man in an orange-brown robe holds up a multi-tiered lit oil lamp (aarti), and a woman in a white sari kneels, her hands together before a silver plate with flowers and offerings.2013-12-07July 22 20142014-07-22July 22 20142014-07-22A golden ornate throne with red velvet cushions and lion-head armrests stands empty before a framed portrait labelled "Paramahamsa Nithyananda". The portrait shows a smiling man wearing an orange turban, orange shawl and a red tilak mark. Beside the throne a golden trident stands upright. In the foreground a woman in a white sari holds a tiered golden oil lamp (aarti) with lit flames, and a seated priest in saffron-orange robes with a shaved head and rudraksha beads offers the lamp. A backdrop shows a waterfall scene, and flower offerings sit on a golden tray.2014-07-27A standing priest in an orange and gold dhoti-style wrap, bald and bare-armed with rudraksha-like beaded bracelets, raises a lit multi-flame oil lamp toward a golden throne-like seat. Centered on the seat is a framed portrait of a smiling man with a saffron/orange turban, orange robes and a red-brown tilak, labelled with a printed caption. A kneeling person in white clothing with a white shawl sits at lower right with hands joined in prayer, beside a metal bowl and a small brass plate of offerings. Flanking the seat are flower arrangements of orange, yellow and purple blooms, a silver trident (trishul) and green foliage, all against a backdrop of a large banyan-style tree over a golden temple-carved landscape. This appears to be an aarti ritual before a portrait on a peetha/throne; the portrait is a printed image, not a physical person.2014-12-26A photograph of a ceremonial stage set up for a padukapuja-style worship, with a red brick-patterned altar framed by golden lion sculptures and a tiger motif on the platform. Two large portraits of a smiling man with long hair and an orange turban hang in the background and above the altar; the portrait on the altar is framed in gold, and a banner behind shows a temple scene. Two golden parasol-style umbrellas flank the stage. A saffron-robed priest with a shaved head holds a tall, lit multi-tiered lamp aloft with both hands. A woman in white sits at the altar presenting offerings, and on the left a man in orange clothing and a second shaved-headed participant tend oil lamps and pooja items on a mat. Trays of flowers and offerings sit on the platform. Visible people: about four.2013-12-06December 09 20132013-12-09A ritual worship scene in a hall before an altar. Centre is a gilded framed portrait labelled "PARAMAHAMSA NITHYANANDA" showing a smiling man in orange robes and an orange turban with a red bindi, flanked by two golden lion sculptures and a tiger-skin rug on an orange and maroon throne-like platform. Above is a large banner of the same smiling figure in orange with a temple pavilion and water garden. In the foreground a shaven-headed priest in orange-brown robes kneels and raises a silver lamp, while a woman in a white sari kneels beside a silver tray with offerings. This appears to be an aarti or puja before the portrait, and the scene shows two people in the foreground.2013-12-09A large gilded framed portrait labelled "Paramahamsa Nithyananda" stands on a golden altar flanked by two golden lion sculptures. The portrait shows a smiling man in an orange turban and orange shawl with a red bindi. In front of it, a silver multi-tiered oil lamp with many lit wicks is being held up, and a person in white clothing at lower right lifts a small lamp. A tiger-skin cloth lies on the altar, and a backdrop of Balinese-style carved gold panels and temple imagery surrounds the shrine. Two people are partly visible at the bottom, one holding the tall lamp and one with a bare shaved head. This is a puja setting honouring the portrait, which is a depiction.2013-12-16December 09 20132013-12-09July 21 20142014-07-21
