A man in white dhoti kneels at a raised red-cloth platform, tending brass pots, bowls and offerings beside the fire. Seated before him are several young girls in saffron, green and cream clothes with white and orange flower garlands in their hair. Behind them, dozens of boys and young men in saffron robes and rudraksha beads sit on mats with garlands. A man in a rust-red shawl and flower garland sits on an orange armchair on a raised platform at the back, with a video camera on a tripod at the right. Red pillars and green trees frame the open pavilion.2014-10-03Outdoor ritual yagna at an ashram courtyard: a large brick-and-wood fire pit with bright flames sits at left. A man in a white dhoti with a rudraksha mala and a red-and-white turban sits cross-legged on an orange cloth, pouring from a small vessel, with brass pots, bowls and a silver urn before him. Beside him stand a young man in white dhoti and a bare-chested young man in an orange cloth, both with garlands. A seated figure in a sleeveless orange robe and garland sits on an orange armchair behind a row of saffron-robed children with white garlands. Girls in dark blue, green, pink and orange dresses with flower-decked hair kneel in the foreground. A cameraman films on the right, and a shaded red-pillared hall stands behind.2014-10-03A homa fire pit with bright flames sits at left, its brick and wooden frame lined with white ash marks. Beside it a white-clad priest kneels on a red-orange mat, tending small brass vessels and bowls of offerings. A man in a red-orange shawl with a pink turban and a long garland sits on an orange armchair at the back, and behind him several figures in white and saffron stand in attendance. Young girls with flower-decorated hair in orange, green and teal outfits kneel in the foreground, while a seated crowd of robed devotees in saffron and maroon fills the left and centre of the courtyard. A yellow shrine-like structure appears at right.2014-10-03A photo of a fire ritual. A shaven-headed man sits cross-legged on an orange cloth, wearing an orange robe, a gold rudraksha-style necklace of beads and a white and red forehead marking, and speaks into a microphone while reaching toward a flame. Brass and silver bowls hold offerings and wood sticks sit by the fire. Seated behind him, two men in white clothes sit with folded hands, and a third man in a red and white shawl sits on a chair nearby. Flowers lie at the edge of the frame. The orange-robed man's appearance is not clearly distinctive enough to confirm identity, so he is described only by role as a ritual officiant.2012-09-09Outdoor homa ceremony at a temple courtyard. A large square fire pit lined with yellow marigold garlands and flower petals burns brightly in the foreground. A bare-chested priest in white dhoti with gold chains sits at the fire pit, and a man in saffron-orange garments and rudraksha beads raises one hand while speaking into a handheld microphone. Behind them, dozens of devotees sit on colourful striped mats, many in white with red shawls and others in saffron-orange, with a red shrine structure and palm trees behind. Brass vessels and offerings sit on the ground. A figure with long hair and a crown-like headpiece sits near the front.2016-02-16 +1 copiesShaven-headed young sannyasi-style devotees in saffron-orange robes sit close together at a homa or yagna fire pit, performing a ritual. One boy in front holds a wooden ladle or spoon over the flames, while another reaches toward the offerings. A woman in an orange sari with a maroon border and a white tilak stands behind them with a necklace and bangles. Behind the group, a large crowd of people in white clothes watches. Around it sit about ten people: several shaved-headed young boys and monks in saffron-orange robes with rudraksha malas, one older man in orange with a grey beard, and two men in white dhotis with white shawls, one wearing a white turban and the other with a white-marked forehead. Brass pots and a lamp stand beside the fire, with bananas, coconuts and flower garlands at the right edge. Spectators in white and dark clothes sit in the background.2013-10-15September 05 20162016-09-05October 16 20132013-10-16September 17 20172017-09-17 +1 copiesMarch 18 20132013-03-18
