A white wading bird. Floating debris and orange flecks dot the surface. In the background a long row of concrete pontoon-like blocks runs along the water, with a crowd of small distant figures visible on the far bank and walkway above.

A hazy, flat river landscape at low water. Several wooden boats rest on shallow, muddy water in the left foreground, and a few more are visible in the distance on the right. A sandy, grassy bank in the foreground holds scattered debris, including a crumpled plastic bag and small litter. A line of trees lines the far shore under a pale, overcast sky. No people are visible.

A photograph of a single white egret wading in shallow grey river water. The bird stands on slender dark legs with its neck extended, facing right. Behind it, a concrete bridge or embankment spans the river, with a row of small distant figures walking along its top railing and orange floating markers scattered on the water. Overcast, hazy light. No ritual, a person, or human activity is in the foreground.

Wide hazy photograph of the Ganga river near Varanasi with a large crowd gathered on a sandbank and at the water's edge. Several wooden boats are moored or drifting, one long boat carries a row of seated passengers, and small figures wade and bathe in the shallow water on the right. Distant trees fade into morning mist. Tents or cloth canopies are visible on the sand at left. Figures are too small and distant to identify roles or clothing precisely; the scene reads as a riverside ghat gathering in Varanasi.

Photograph of a wide, hazy river surface with choppy grey-blue water in the foreground. Across the middle distance, a line of moored wooden boats and small vessels sits along a distant sandy bank under a pale, overcast sky. No people are visible in the scene.

A tall white egret stands alone on a wide, glistening tidal mudflat, its long legs in shallow water among scattered dark debris, twigs and small stones. Sunlight reflects off the wet silt. A tiny shorebird is visible at the right edge. No people or ritual activity appear in the scene.

A hazy morning view over a wide river at a ghat, with the sun low and bright in a pale sky. Two small wooden boats move across the water, one with a few seated figures and one further right with several people in it. A utility pole with a street lamp stands at left, and a bird perches on a sagging wire crossing the scene. Dark stone steps and a low riverside wall sit in the foreground, with a distant tree-lined bank on the far shore.

A hazy wide photograph of the Ganga river at a ghat in Varanasi, with a sandy bank and shallow water. Several wooden boats are moored along the bank, some carrying passengers, and small tents with colourful cloth canopies stand on the sand. Horses are tethered at the right edge. Many people bathe and wade in the shallows, and others stand on the sand and in the boats. A few distant figures are visible on the far sandbank. No identifiable a person figure appears; the people are bathers, boatmen and onlookers at the riverside.
