A narrow lane in Varanasi with weathered whitewashed walls and a metal-grilled wooden door on the left. A smiling figure with long dark hair, a red bindi and a large black rudraksha-style necklace layered over orange and marigold garlands walks at the centre, flanked by saffron-robed sannyasis. The sannyasi on the right holds a silver trident, and another wears a gold pendant and rudraksha mala. A central figure in a rust-red turban and rust-red wrap over a saffron-gold garment wears a white and green flower garland, multiple rudraksha malas and a gold pendant necklace, and walks with eyes lowered. Beside and behind him, men in saffron and orange robes carry a tall gold-tipped staff and a silver ceremonial implement, with white ash marks on their foreheads and arms and rudraksha malas on their chests. A man on the right holds the gold staff while wearing white vibhuti lines. The centre figure has distinctive turban, garland and ornament cues, so this is a probable appearance-based candidate for a person, shown in person.2015-11-19Night procession with a central man in a maroon-brown robe, gold crown and a large gold pendant necklace, wearing a long multicoloured garland of white, purple, red and blue flowers, holding a tall silver staff and smiling.
