An outdoor ritual gathering under a corrugated open-sided pavilion beside palm trees. Many devotees in white clothes with red shawls sit on striped rugs around a square stone homa or puja platform holding brass bowls, plates and offerings. On the left, a shrine with a deity murti of a couple in an orange-lit arch; behind the platform, an orange and gold kalasha-like pillar. On the right, an ornate red and gold chair draped with garlands stands empty, a framed photograph displayed beside it. A man in white with a red shawl and a shaved head sits at the platform center, and several people in white are seated along the row. Fruit and banana leaves lie on the rugs. The ritual appears to be a puja.2013-03-26A square homa fire pit with a brick-lined interior sits on a white-plastered platform decorated with red kolam-style lines, surrounded by striped mats. Four coconuts with green leaves rest in silver-patterned bowls in the foreground, and small oil lamps line the right edge. On the right, a seated priest in a rust-orange robe with bare, shaved head and white ritual markings on his upper arm faces the pit and gestures with his hands, wearing a headset. Behind the fire pit a large seated group of about thirty participants wears white clothing with orange-ribboned lanyards and red sashes; a woman in a red-and-orange sari sits in the centre, and a woman in a white robe on the left is kneeling. A red-draped figure and a golden structure appear at the top left and a red statue-like form at the top centre.2013-03-29October 16 20102010-10-16 +1 copiesA photograph of an outdoor homa fire ceremony at night. A priest in orange-brown robes with a rudraksha mala and a white tripundra on his forehead sits at right beside brass vessels, bowls of offerings and a tray of grains. Several participants sit with palms joined in prayer. Potted plants and a red pillar appear in the background. Visible people number roughly a dozen or more.2013-04-01Devotees sit on a white stepped platform under a corrugated metal roof with palm trees visible outside. In the foreground, silver bowls, a silver spouted vessel, a silver lamp stand and a steel plate hold food offerings on leaves, including white rice and sweets, with a brass bowl of curry. Several seated devotees wear white clothes with red-orange shawls and mala beads, and a man in white with glasses sits near a carved golden shrine backdrop with deity murti figures. The setting suggests a puja or prasadam offering.2013-03-26A homa fire burns in a rectangular stone fire pit decorated with white painted borders and scattered red rose petals. Orange and yellow marigold garlands and red rose garlands frame the foreground, with small brass plates of offerings and a kalasha-like pot nearby. Behind the fire, a row of seated women and girls wear white with red shawls, with a few in pink and white, sitting attentively on striped mats. At the upper right, a bare-chested man with a sacred thread and white dhoti sits near a microphone and metal vessels; his appearance does not clearly establish an identity, so he is described only by role as a priest and no a person candidate is asserted.2013-07-17April 01 20132013-04-01March 26 20132013-03-26April AF 2012October 16 20102010-10-16 +1 copiesOutdoor temple courtyard with a square stone fire pit (homa kund) in the foreground, surrounded by brass plates of fruit, flowers, red flower heaps and offerings.
