Dense crowd photograph at an outdoor festival procession. In the center, a man with grey hair and glasses wears white clothing with a red shawl and holds a silver trident aloft. Behind him, a figure in orange robes sits on a raised orange-draped platform decorated with yellow and orange marigold garlands and flowers, with a golden seat in front. Many devotees in white and yellow shawls and orange clothing surround the platform, some raising hands, others holding brass vessels. In the centre, a bare-chested man with long swept-back hair, a sandalwood or kumkum mark on his forehead, a white dhoti and a beaded garland stands among devotees. Nearby, a man in an orange turban and saffron robe wears a rudraksha mala, and a shaved-headed monk in orange follows close. Red and orange umbrellas and red flags rise above the people, and a cameraman films the scene at right. Many people press forward with mobile phones raised.2016-04-24A photograph of a flower-decorated ceremonial palanquin procession at a sacred bathing-tank event. A man seated on a gold-framed red throne-like seat wears saffron-orange clothing, long swept-back hair, and layered red and white rudraksha-style malas with a white floral garland; the description appears to match a probable Swamiji candidate, seated and smiling. Marigold and orange flower garlands and yellow blooms drape the palanquin. A golden trident is held upright at left by a young man in a red-orange shirt. Spectators sit on red steps behind, several in white, with a drummer visible at left and water spray in the air.2010-01-02 +1 copiesApril 18 20162016-04-18December 31 20092009-12-31A festival procession on a street with a crowd of many devotees pressing close.
