A seated figure on a gold-and-red throne (peetha) with a large gold canopy and ornate umbrellas behind, wearing a red-and-saffron turban and saffron-orange robe with a rudraksha-style necklace; the figure's appearance is not clear enough to confirm identity. Standing priests in white dhotis with red and gold borders and bare upper bodies, some wearing garlands, attend a fire pit (homa) with visible flames and brass vessels with offerings. A decorated deity murti and floral garlands sit on a colourful tiered altar at left, with gold ceremonial staffs and tall brass lamps nearby. Devotees in white sit on the floor at right and in the foreground.2015-10-19A large hall with ceiling fans, where a crowd of devotees sits on striped mats facing a homa fire pit with flames and smoke. Many attendees wear white clothing with orange-red shawls draped over the shoulders, and several sit in rows toward the front. Ceremonial parasols and ornate silver ritual stands surround the fire, and a richly decorated deity murti with garlands and a canopy sits on a raised dais on the left. A priest in white clothing tends the fire near the center. The setting suggests a homa ritual, with a dimly lit, pale-walled hall behind the seated participants.2015-07-16
