June 02 20122012-06-02March 14 20142014-03-14A photograph taken from behind a woman in an orange-red shawl and gold ornaments, standing at a doorway and facing a small wall shrine lit by a single bulb. Inside the shrine are framed portraits, including one of a bearded man in white, and a brass oil lamp on the floor. A man's head is visible at the lower left edge of the frame. The woman wears a dark beaded headband, a gold earring and a broad gold necklace over her orange-red cloth. The scene looks like a home prayer corner rather than a large gathering.2012-05-11A person seen from behind sits on stone steps in a red and gold draped garment, with a dark rudraksha-style bead necklace, hands clasped, facing a white statue in orange robes with a raised hand gesture under a red curtain edge. Orange and red walls and blurred greenery fill the background. The seated devotee is a single person, and the statue is a depiction rather than a physical person.2011-09-22July 22 20102010-07-22October 18 20102010-10-18 +8 copiesPhotograph of a person seen from behind, standing before a small household shrine set into a wall with an orange-framed doorway. The shrine holds framed deity prints and calendar-style religious pictures, brass oil lamps on a tray, and yellow marigold flowers. Marigold garlands hang down beside the doorway. The standing person has dark hair in a bun, wears a white flower garland over the shoulder, a rudraksha mala of brown beads with a gold clasp, and a rust-red cloth. Red fabric and a gold-coloured decorative element appear at the upper right.2014-06-22 +1 copiesJune 02 20122012-06-02 +1 copiesA photograph of a stage with a single standing figure in profile on the left, wearing an orange top and orange-saffron wrap, with long dark hair and hands pressed together in namaskar. Beside the figure a dark red curtain hangs, and at right an ornate gold throne with a red seat and cushions is decorated with marigold and multicoloured garlands, holding a small white deity murti. Gold kalasha-style finials stand near the throne, and an orange carpet covers the stage floor. A projection screen hangs at the left edge. The figure's gender and identity are not determinable from appearance cues here, so no identification is made.2010-10-18 +1 copiesA photograph inside a temple room where a person in an orange sleeveless top and orange wrap, with shoulder-length dark hair, stands with their back to the camera, hands joined in prayer. In front of them is a deity murti or seated figure draped in dark and maroon cloth, heavily decorated with white and orange garlands and a golden crown-like headpiece, placed on a gold-coloured base. Behind it, in a glass-fronted wooden cabinet, a framed portrait shows a seated figure in orange robes, a rudraksha mala, and an orange turban, with one hand raised. Brass oil lamps stand at left, and a hanging brass lamp appears at upper right beside a barred window. Orange cloth and striped mats cover the floor.2010-07-21A photograph of a temple shrine doorway with white carved trim and a marble-clad interior. A woman in an orange-red sari with gold border and gold necklace and rudraksha bands on her arms stands in the foreground, seen from behind. Inside the shrine, a bare-chested priest in an orange-red dhoti with gold border and a gold headband lights or offers at a golden arched niche holding a white-robed image with a dark face, decorated with pink flowers. Brass oil lamps, fruit offerings and a small table with pink flowers stand before the shrine. A white-clad assistant is partly visible at the left edge. This appears to be a puja or aarti at a shrine, with three people visible.2012-05-11A woman with long dark hair stands in profile on a raised stage, wearing an orange sleeveless top and an orange sari-style wrap, hands pressed together in namaskar. Beside her is an ornate gold throne with a red cushion, decorated with yellow and white flower garlands and a small deity murti at its centre. A gold-finished standing lamp with a flame-shaped top flanks the stage, with a black flag on a short pole. Maroon and navy drapes hang behind, a projection screen is at left, and an orange cloth covers the floor. One physical person is visible.2010-10-18 +2 copies
