Beside him a seated man in white with a golden-bordered cloth tends the fire. Several women in white saris with golden borders stand in the doorway; one in the foreground presses her palms together in prayer. Brass vessels, marigold garlands, fruit and flower offerings sit on banana leaves in front of the fire pit.
