A puja scene inside a hall, with a low brick-lined fire pit or homa altar at centre and a purple cloth-draped table laden with bananas, mangoes, pineapples, apples, lemons, flower garlands, sugarcane stalks, a red chili and coconut-like offerings. A bare-chested priest in a maroon dhoti with rudraksha mala and a wristwatch sits at right, holding a ritual item aloft over the offerings, while another priest in saffron clothing with a microphone sits beside him. Seated devotees in white and cream dhotis and kurtas, some with shaved heads, fill the background, with a few standing people at the top edge.2004-06-12September 16 20132013-09-16 +1 copiesA photograph of a puja ceremony in an open hall with a seated crowd of devotees, many with palms pressed together in namaste. In the foreground a bare-chested priest with a sandalwood-marked forehead, wearing a red-and-yellow dhoti and a white beaded necklace, holds a brass lamp with a lit flame and a brass vessel while performing the ritual. Nearby sit a bearded man in white with tripundra marks and a man in an orange robe. Before them is a brick-edged fire or offering platform decorated with bananas, fruits, flowers, pineapples and a red cloth-wrapped kalasha-like arrangement with paddy stalks. Several seated men wear white dhotis and white shirts; a few wear orange or saffron shawls.2004-06-12A ceremonial ritual scene seated on a striped woven mat. A central figure in an orange turban and orange garments wears heavy garlands of yellow and red flowers and green leaves, and sits smiling with hands near a large offering tray. The tray holds bananas, mangoes, pink and red fruit, betel-leaf and flower arrangements. Around them, men in white dhotis and orange shawls sit or stand with palms joined; a bare-chested man with rudraksha and a shaved priest in orange and white hold the tray. A man in a white shirt and wristwatch sits in the foreground. Behind, standing devotees in white and khaki and a yellow banner with text frame the scene, consistent with a temple puja and offering ceremony.2007-01-12December 26 20082008-12-26A photograph of a traditional Hindu wedding ceremony on a teal cloth set on the ground outdoors. A figure in saffron-orange robes with long swept-back hair and a white forehead mark sits at left, holding a small silver vessel, with a long-haired figure's face partly visible; a bride in a red and orange sari with white flower garlands sits centre, and a groom in white dhoti and shirt with a red-and-white garland sits beside her. Spread before them are brass trays of flowers, fruit including apples and pineapples, sweets, a kumkum dish, a small clay oil lamp, and a stack of white blocks. Brass vessels and a plate of white flower petals complete the ritual arrangement.2007-02-15February 15 20072007-02-15July 13 20092009-07-13May 26 20172017-05-26February 15 20072007-02-15June 12 20042004-06-12April 17 20172017-04-17
