MAy 19 20212021-05-19June 20 20212021-06-20A photograph of a ceremony in a gilded temple hall. On the left, a bearded man in an orange saffron dhoti and shawl, with a rudraksha mala and white horizontal tripundra markings on his forehead and arms, stands with palms pressed together in anjali. Beside a gold throne, a seated figure wearing a golden crown, layered pearl and bead necklaces, a garland of yellow and white flowers, and a red-orange cloth is shown with a raised hand; this seated figure appears to be a statue or murti rather than a living person. In front of the throne stands a decorated kalasha pot with mango leaves, pink flowers and a coconut on a silver tray, with a small golden elephant figure at the lower left. Behind them are gold lattice screens, a maroon curtain and garlanded deity figures.2021-05-17A photograph of a ritual scene in a gold-decorated temple shrine. Six people in saffron-orange robes stand with palms pressed together in anjali mudra before a brick fire pit (homa kunda) holding burning logs. Behind them, a richly adorned deity murti and gold kalasha-style vessels with garlands sit on a draped red altar. Two figures at the far left wear white head cloths and rudraksha malas, and the man on the right wears a striped tiger-print wrap. An open book sits on a wooden stand at left beside a microphone. Gold relief panels and marigold garlands frame the shrine.2021-05-19Temple ritual scene before a richly decorated golden shrine with a large deity murti draped in garlands of yellow and red flowers and colourful silk backdrops of red, green, blue and purple. A priest in saffron-orange dhoti and shawl kneels at the front right, holding a silver vessel, while a line of attendants stands at left and right. Several men are bare-chested with white and orange dhotis and rudraksha malas; some hold trishula tridents and peacock-feather fans. Brass and silver lamps, flower offerings, bananas and a golden peetha/kalasha-style arrangement sit on the altar. The setting suggests a puja or abhishekam at a temple.2021-06-20April 24 20122012-04-24Photograph of a puja inside a temple shrine with gold arched niches decorated with marigold garlands. In the foreground, four men in orange and saffron robes sit on an orange mat before a tray of flowers and offerings. The man on the left, in orange with rudraksha beads, sits with palms pressed together in prayer. Beside him, a bare-chested man in orange cloth sits and a man in a red-orange robe holds his hands together. A seated man in orange garments bows his head with hands raised near his face. Behind them, deity murtis of Shiva and Parvati and other forms stand on decorated pedestals, and a tall brass oil lamp stands at the right. Metal bowls and a plate of flowers sit on the mat.A ceremonial photograph of three seated deity murtis on a red-draped dais under a gilded arch with green silk drapery, each garlanded with yellow, red and white flower strands. The central figure wears a tall gold crown, orange garment and heavy jewelled necklaces; the figures to either side wear crowns and ornate silver-and-gold jewellery. Two men in red and white ritual dress stand at either side with hands joined in namaskar, one wearing an orange turban and one a white turban. In the foreground a man with a shaved head, white sacred markings and rudraksha beads sits beside a brass bowl and a ladle, apparently in puja. Floral garlands drape the dais edges.2013-12-25Inside a temple shrine, a bald priest in a rust-orange dhoti and shawl, with a gold-trimmed cloth and a flower garland, holds a flame toward a deity pair decorated with red and white garlands; the central pair features a figure in a red and orange turban and a figure in a green and gold sari-like garment with a crown. Two attendants in saffron-orange robes stand nearby: one holds a brass tray with a large brass lamp, the other has hands folded in namaskar. Gold-coloured brass lamps, a kalasha-like brass bowl and a golden arched frame surround the altar, with a small white-clad figure with a green cloth at the base, and a copyright credit overlays the lower right corner.2012-04-24A photograph inside a temple shrine room with gold-framed arches and a deity murti decorated with marigold garlands. On the left, a woman in orange sari with a long braid holds a metal vessel. Next, a woman in red sari and a man in red sari-style robe, both holding small metal cups, stand near a brass oil lamp (lamp). A man in orange dhoti and shawl with a rudraksha mala stands beside the lamp. On the right, a seated man in orange robes with a bare chest and a mala sits before a low altar. The scene appears to show a puja or aarti offering.MAy 19 20212021-05-19A ritual scene on a stage before a gold-framed shrine with garlanded deity murti of a pair of seated figures, one crowned, with marigold garlands draped across the image. In the foreground a bald priest in orange dhoti and bare chest kneels at a brass bowl, extending his arm over a small fire pit of sticks. Beside him an orange-clad assistant bends forward on the stage, and another figure in orange kneels at the left with silver vessels and leaves. Standing behind, a man in white turban and a man in orange shawl hold garland-decorated positions near the shrine, and a figure in purple sits at left. Red velvet drapes frame the backdrop.2013-12-25
