Photograph of a rain-soaked outdoor gathering after a holy bath. At centre, a smiling man in a wet maroon-and-gold dhoti and shawl, with a rudraksha-style beaded necklace and heavy gold ceremonial necklace, holds two white lotus flowers and raises one hand in greeting. Beside him, a bald man in a maroon shawl with gold necklaces smiles. At left, a bare-chested man in white dhoti and orange shawl with rudraksha malas raises his arm. Behind them, devotees in white and maroon, some with wet hair and smeared white forehead markings, stand under orange umbrellas.

Outdoor temple-procession scene with a colourful canopy at upper left. An elderly bald man with a gold-banded headpiece, forehead tilak and layered rudraksha and white-bead malas, wearing saffron and gold-bordered orange cloth, holds a folded orange cloth and reaches forward. Beside him a younger shaved-headed man in orange robes and a sacred thread-style neck garland bows with palms pressed together, his head bowed. A tall man in white dhoti and shirt stands at left, and several men in white shirts and dhotis surround them. Crowd members press in at the edges.

Night-time photograph inside a temple hall with stone pillars and a corrugated roof. Centre, a bare-chested man with long swept-back hair, a rudraksha crown, a thick gold bead necklace and a silver chain wears a rust-brown dhoti and holds a small leaf offering packet while looking down. Beside him a bearded man in orange robes and a rudraksha mala stands with a folded white cloth. On the left an orange-robed elder holds bundled cash or offerings. Devotees in white and saffron clothing surround them, with a bald man on the right wearing a white shawl. The scene resembles a temple ritual offering with a palanquin procession in the background.

A photograph of a procession through a narrow street lined with yellow-ochre temple walls and a palm tree, with a crowd of onlookers behind. In the centre, a man in orange-red ochre cloth with a thick rudraksha mala and a shell-and-bead necklace holds a small gold object in his hands and looks down at it, wearing a headband of beads. Around him, several men in saffron-orange robes with rudraksha and bead malas walk closely, one carrying a golden pot-shaped vessel. On the left, men in white dhotis with rudraksha malas walk alongside, and a shaved-headed man in saffron with a beaded headband stands nearby. The scene appears to be a temple procession.

Photograph inside a temple hall during a procession. Centre, a man in saffron-orange robes wears a gold-coloured turban-style headband, white-and-orange floral garlands, a rudraksha mala and a thick gold necklace; he is smiling and has a red tilak on his forehead. Beside him, an older bare-chested man in orange garments with a golden headband, white and orange garlands and a dark rudraksha mala walks with his eyes lowered. Left foreground, a man in saffron robes with a gold-bead necklace and a dark pendant stands facing forward. Behind them, men in white dhotis and shirts, some with gold necklaces, and a man in white with a camera-holding arm on the right. Painted panels and wooden pillars decorate the background.

A man with long dark hair, a rust-brown saffron-toned wrap and heavy gold necklaces and rudraksha-style beads stands beside a white car, placing his hand on a large tray of red and white flowers. Beside him, a young man in an orange turban and orange wrap holds a green and gold decorated bundle with a flower-filled vessel on top, while a man with white sacred ash marks and a beaded mala stands behind. Several people in orange turbans are visible in the background near a covered walkway, with palm trees above. The scene suggests a padapuja or welcome ceremony, with Swamiji (probable) appearing as the man in the centre-right wearing the heavy gold necklaces and long swept-back hair.

A night procession in a temple corridor during the Madurai Aadheenam Gnanasambandar Gurupooja festival. Two men walk hand in hand at centre: the man second from left wears a saffron-orange garment with a gold-bordered shawl, a white floral garland, a gold necklace and a rudraksha mala, with a red-and-gold headband and vibhuti marks. Beside him a man with a shaved head wears an orange-and-red robe, gold-bordered shawl, a white garland, a rudraksha mala and a gold headband. Surrounding men wear orange robes, white dhotis and white-shirted attendants, with a man at right in an olive-and-blue dhoti and a white shirt. Festival lights and garlands hang overhead.

A photograph of a central figure in a rust-red robe with a rudraksha mala across the chest and a garland of white flowers with red and yellow blossoms, palms pressed together in greeting namaste with a small red bindi on the forehead. Around him stand many young male renunciants with shaved heads and white horizontal tilak marks, wearing saffron-orange and red cloth, several with folded hands, some with rudraksha malas. On the right a man in a red-and-gold dhoti with a rudraksha mala and a small headset microphone stands with hands clasped. A red and yellow decorated pillar and green foliage form the outdoor setting, consistent with a sanyas initiation or pada puja gathering.
