February 14 20132013-02-14Outdoors beneath large banyan trees with dense aerial roots, three men stand on a dark stone slab beside a low stone-edged pool. The central elderly man has a long white beard and wears a saffron-orange robe, holding a wooden walking staff, and is smiling broadly. A younger man on the left wears a brown dhoti-style garment with gold borders and a rudraksha-type mala, facing him. A bald man on the right, in matching brown and gold-bordered attire with a mala, stands with hands clasped. Red flower petals lie on the ground.2013-11-05A photograph of a group walking across a paved courtyard beneath a large spreading banyan tree, with a white Ganesha murti visible in a shrine niche at left. In the centre, a smiling man with long dark hair, a red bindi and a rudraksha mala wears saffron-orange robes with a matching shawl and looks upward. Behind him, a bald monk in saffron dhoti and shawl walks, and a man in white dhoti stands nearby. At right, a bald young man in saffron robes with a gold-bordered shawl and a wristwatch carries a red object. Pink pillars frame the scene. Four people are visible.2013-02-14A photo of two barefoot figures walking along a concrete path beside a red-and-gold ornamental metal fence. The foreground figure wears an orange saffron wrap, a leopard-print shawl over the shoulders and a long white and pink flower garland with a tassel. Beside them, a second person in plain orange robes carries a small wooden box in one hand. To the right stand a trimmed hedge, a large leaning tree and a concrete wall, and above the fence a black water tank on a metal stand is visible under a bright sky.2010-10-05Outdoor photograph of a man in a flowing saffron-orange garment walking across a paved courtyard beside a white boundary wall, with a tree and bare branches visible. He has long dark hair falling past his shoulders and a red forehead mark. Beside him, a second man in white ritual clothes and white dhoti walks with a saffron-orange shawl draped over his shoulders and holds a small paper or notebook. A shelter frame with corrugated roof and a tree canopy overhead. The first man has long swept-back hair, saffron clothing and a red forehead mark, cues consistent with a person, but the appearance is uncertain given the distance and framing.2010-02-04A photograph of a long-haired man in a flowing saffron-orange cloth draped over his shoulders and body, walking barefoot on a dirt-and-stone path while holding a tall bamboo-like staff in his right hand, with a red tilak mark on his forehead. Behind him, a younger man in orange robes with a white forehead mark stands with arms folded, and a third man in white clothing stands further back. Massive banyan tree roots and trunks fill the background, with dry fallen leaves on the ground. The scene suggests a sannyasi procession or walk near a temple grove. The long-haired lead figure in saffron, with a staff and red tilak, fits the appearance cues associated with a person, but the face is not clearly identifiable, so the identity remains uncertain.2006-10-25February 11 20082008-02-11Four men in saffron-orange robes stand in a paved courtyard beneath a large banyan-type tree with a white-tiled raised platform. The man at left has long swept-back dark hair, a crown-like adornment absent, and a long rudraksha mala around his neck, hands clasped at chest level, facing right and gesturing toward the others. Behind him a bald man in orange wears glasses and a mala and stands with hands folded. A bare-chested man in a white dhoti stands near the tree. At right, a shaved-headed man in orange with a sacred thread holds a small pink bundle while listening. Two shrines flank the scene: at left a white Ganesha murti sits under a pillared canopy, and at right a white standing deity murti stands under a pillared canopy with dark drapes.2013-02-14May 14 20122012-05-14Outdoor temple scene beneath a large banyan tree strung with yellow and white marigold garlands. A long-haired man in orange robes and a rudraksha mala walks barefoot across a dark polished floor, hands held together at chest level. Two orange-clad attendants stand to the right, one holding a brass vessel with flowers and a green leaf, the other in an orange shawl with a long-bearded elder in an orange turban. A white raised platform and a cameraman with a video camera are at left, with a red and gold shrine behind.2009-07-07A photograph of a group walking barefoot along a paved courtyard path between a stone wall on the left and a pink temple building with a teal door and barred windows. Several men wear saffron and orange robes: a young man on the far left in orange, a bearded elderly sadhu in rust-red robes with a topknot, a long-haired man in orange with a beaded necklace, and a man on the far right in orange holding a small object. A man in a white kurta with a blue-and-white beaded necklace walks second from left, and a younger person in white stands further back. Tamil script is painted on the pink wall behind them.2010-01-18 +1 copiesFEB-2007-01
