A photograph inside a shrine: a shaved-headed priest in an orange-red dhoti and bare upper body with a gold-bordered cloth, wearing a beaded rudraksha-style headband and gold necklace, holds a silver lamp with a flame above a dark stone deity murti. The murti wears white jasmine garlands, pink and red flower garlands and a diamond-like necklace, set within a gold arched niche with orange, white and green floral decoration. Brass oil lamps burn on the altar, with a brass tray of pink flowers held in the priest's other hand and small offering vessels below. The scene depicts an aarti or puja at a temple shrine.2012-06-05A temple shrine lit by a fluorescent tube, where a priest in a rust-orange dhoti with gold border and a gold-beaded headband stands at left, holding a flaming wick or camphor flame toward an oil lamp on a brass stand. Behind him a deity murti is framed by an arched garland of orange, red and white flowers, with a gold ornamental backdrop and a gold necklace. A second person in orange and gold silk, partly visible at right, holds another burning flame. Below, offerings sit on a stone platform: a brass bowl, a coconut, flower petals and a banana leaf.
