July 13 20152015-07-13July 13 20152015-07-13A photograph of a Hindu homa ritual in a hall with a maroon backdrop. In the centre, a shirtless man wearing a yellow shawl, white dhoti and an orange-red headband stands over a brick fire pit with a lit flame and offerings, holding a ladle-like implement. Beside him, a man in white dhoti and a striped shawl holds a brass plate. Behind them, a throne decorated with yellow and white flower garlands holds a deity murti, and two ornate golden staffs flank it. A seated man in orange robes and rudraksha beads sits at left near a monitor. Yellow marigold garlands, kalasha pots and brass trays surround the fire pit.2015-07-13A ceremonial puja scene in an ornate hall. In the foreground, a priest in a red headband and a yellow sacred shawl printed with Sanskrit lettering holds a small purple-wrapped offering bundle and stands beside a silver lamp stand. Beside him, a second priest in white dhoti with a striped orange-and-white shawl and rudraksha mala holds a silver tray. Behind them, a seated figure in saffron robes, long garland of white and orange flowers and ornate gold necklace sits with hands folded in a namaste gesture on a red and gold throne decorated with a large flower arrangement. Golden trident-topped staffs frame the altar. Two more people in saffron appear partly at the left edge.2015-07-13July 13 20152015-07-13July 13 20152015-07-13A ritual scene in a decorated hall with a gold-trimmed throne backed by a floral arch of yellow and white garlands. Seated on the throne, a man in an orange robe, orange turban, gold necklaces and a red-and-white flower garland sits with palms joined in greeting. In front, a bare-chested man in a red-and-orange head cloth and a yellow shawl printed with mantras holds a small offering bundle and a lamp-like vessel. Beside him, a man in white dhoti and a striped shawl, wearing rudraksha beads, holds a brass plate. A gold ceremonial staff stands at the right edge, and a woman in an orange sari sits at left near a brass vessel. A kalasha-style setup and white cloths decorate the ground. Swamiji (probable): the seated man on the throne wears orange robes, an orange turban, gold necklaces and a garland, cues that match the page's claim.2015-07-13A homa fire is burning in a sunken fire pit on a red floor inside a decorated temple hall, with a flower-tiered offering platform and coconuts and fruits to the right. Several priests in white dhotis with gold borders and bare upper bodies stand at the fire; the central priest in a maroon turban pours from a brass vessel with a flower garland, while others hold offerings. Umbrellas with ornate canopies and marigold garlands decorate the hall, and a few onlookers in orange and white sit at the edges. No figure is clearly identifiable as a person, so this is a ritual scene with priests and devotees.2018-04-14April 06 20172017-04-06A homa or yagna being performed in a temple-like hall before a decorated deity murti and shrine. A yellow brick fire pit holds a burning fire with offerings beside it, and a tray of red fruits and flowers sits on a cloth. Several priests in white dhotis with red and gold waist cloths and gold beaded necklaces assist, one in a green turban sitting at left stirring with a ladle, another in a white shirt with a red sash standing and pouring. Bowls are stacked on shelves at left, and brass lamps stand at right.2015-09-15April 14 20182018-04-14Two men sit before a homa fire pit built of stacked bricks topped with white powder, marigold petals and kumkum, with a bright flame rising from the wood. The man on the left in white dhoti and gold necklaces holds a stick and a folded white cloth; his bare chest bears white sacred markings. The man on the right wears an orange saffron robe with gold border, rudraksha beads and a tilak on his forehead, and feeds the fire with a small stick. A silver vessel and brass pot sit nearby, and a red wall forms the backdrop.2015-11-28
