July 07 20092009-07-07Close-up photo of two sets of hands handling white powder over a polished silver tray with scalloped edges. A woman in the foreground wears a red-brown garment and a dark red thread bracelet, and her fingers hold a clump of white powder. Another person's hand with a red bracelet sits at the right, and orange-robed sleeves are visible at the top, with more white powder scattered across the tray and the surface below.2016-10-16October 16 20162016-10-16Close photograph of a hand holding a mound of white powder. Behind it, out of focus, a person in orange saffron robes sits, and a reddish-brown thread is tied around a wrist. Other hands reach toward the plate at the left edge. No faces are visible and no legible text appears within the photograph itself.2016-10-16October 16 20162016-10-16Close photo of a person in saffron-orange robes cradling an ornate silver bowl of milky white liquid in both hands. A heavy gold bead necklace hangs over the orange cloth, and a red-and-beige sacred thread bracelet is visible on one wrist. White ash lines mark the upper arms. Silver vessels with engraved designs sit in the foreground beneath the hands, and a partly visible red-and-gold textile appears at the edge. The only physical person visible is the one holding the bowl; the body is cropped at the neck and waist, so the face is not shown.2010-10-26Close-up photograph of hands in a ritual offering: a person's hand dusted with white powder sprinkles or takes powder from a round polished silver tray, while another hand in a red-and-white thread bracelet rests on the tray's rim. In the background, orange-robed sannyasis are seated, and a second tray in the lower right holds a pale powder beside red offerings. The scene suggests an abhishekam or puja preparation with powdered offerings such as sandal or vibhuti. No face is visible, so no individual can be identified.2016-10-16A photograph of a person in an orange saffron garment draped over the head and shoulders, wearing a heavy gold ceremonial necklace and white ash markings on the forehead and arms. He pours white powder from a silver bowl over a dark stone or deity form, creating a cascade of white particles against a black background. A carved stone pillar is visible at the upper right. Given the appearance-based cues of long hair, saffron clothing and ornate gold necklace, this is a probable match for the presence of a person performing an abhishekam, though the face is partly turned and the identification is uncertain.2009-12-16October 10 20162016-10-10December 09 20132013-12-09October 16 20162016-10-16September 14 20142014-09-14
