September 16 20062006-09-16Outdoor photo of a group of saffron-robed sadhus and devotees walking on a dirt yard in front of a thatched-roof hut with a whitewashed wall and palm trees. A man at centre wears an orange turban and a green shawl over white clothes. To the right, a long-haired man in an orange robe with a rudraksha mala walks forward. Other men wear orange and brown robes, and one man in white carries a bag. Marigold garlands hang from the hut's eaves and a yellow pole stands nearby.2009-12-30A photograph of a group gathered on a dirt path in front of a thatched-roof white building with blue doors and a small fence. A figure in a bright orange dhoti with long, dark, uncovered hair and a bare chest stands at left, pointing toward the group. In the centre, a bearded man in an orange robe and orange turban faces them, with other men in white dhotis and orange shawls around him. On the right, a long-haired man in a yellow robe and a bearded man in orange robes stand near men in white shirts and white dhotis wearing orange shawls. Green trees and a cloudy sky are in the background.2007-08-09August 09 20072007-08-09September 18 20062006-09-18A line of about fifteen people stands on a dirt path in front of thatched-roof buildings with white walls and large windows, with trees behind. Most are dressed in saffron and orange robes, including several sadhus with shaved heads and orange shawls, while others wear white dhotis and shirts, a red top with blue lungi, and a long brown robe. A bearded man in the centre wears a green shawl over white clothes and an orange head wrap, and a woman in orange has a garland of beads around her neck. Two people on the right in orange shawls walk away from the group, and one person in the line holds a small object. The scene appears to be a gathering or queue at an ashram.2009-12-30Outdoor photograph at dusk of a group walking along a red-earth path between leafy trees toward a thatched-roof shed with a small temple gopuram behind it. In the centre, a smiling person with long dark hair wears a saffron-orange robe and walks barefoot; a bearded man in a white shirt and white dhoti walks beside them. Several men in white and checked shirts follow behind, one wearing a white dhoti with an orange border and a neck garland.2006-09-23A photograph of a ritual procession outside a thatched-roof cement-block hut with a dirt yard. A bare-chested man in an orange cloth stands at the doorway at left. A man in white shirt and white dhoti holds papers. Several young men in orange robes stand in a line, one holding a long bamboo pole with an orange flag and a small brass vessel, another carrying a white-handled object. Orange flags on poles are visible along the right side, and a man in white stands at center right. The setting suggests a consecration or blessing of a new structure.2006-09-16A night-time photograph of a thatched-roof village hut with whitewashed walls and a red-and-white painted border. Five people stand on a sandy courtyard: a woman in a bright orange sari with a red blouse stands at centre with hands on her hips, flanked by men in white dhotis and shirts, one in a yellow shirt. In the foreground at right, a figure in an orange robe with a maroon shawl walks away with long hair, wearing blue slippers. A blue plastic chair and a green-framed notice board sit against the wall, and a bucket and sacks lie at left.2009-08-03A photograph inside a thatched round hut with a woven palm-leaf ceiling and walls. A long-haired person in a saffron-orange robe stands with palms joined at the chest, smiling, bare-footed, beside a red-cushioned seat with a red bolster. Three men in white shirts and dhotis stand facing him; the man in the centre holds a red-and-gold shawl. A stand with an orange basket and a stack of white cloths sits at left, and a second saffron-robed attendant stands at right.2006-07-25A photograph taken under a thatched bamboo-pole shelter with an open red-earth floor and a plain whitewashed wall behind. A long-haired figure in a saffron-orange shawl and orange garment walks barefoot across the earth, holding a wooden staff. Beside them, two men in white dhotis and white shirts walk and talk; one gestures with an open hand. Several other men stand in the background, including one in a white shirt with an orange shawl and another in a checked lungi, with a small child in a striped shirt at right. Trees and cloudy sky are visible beyond the shelter. Whether the saffron-clad figure is a person cannot be confirmed from appearance; the long swept-back hair and saffron clothing are present but the figure is only partly distinct, so the candidate is marked unsure.2006-09-23December 30 20092009-12-30
