A diorama-style village household scene at dusk under a bright bulb, with a mud-plastered wall decorated with white kolam patterns and a red painted base. Two adult women sit on a woven mat grinding grain: the woman on the left in a yellow-green sari presses a stone grinding wheel, while the woman on the right in an orange sari holds a flat tray. Behind them a boy and a girl sit on a wooden bench. These appear to be lifelike figures or statues rather than living people. A pair of large stone grinding stones lies in the foreground, and orange marigold garlands hang at the doorway.
