The figure's head and shoulders are covered with garlands of white flowers, marigolds and green leaves. A bare arm with a bangle reaches toward the flame. A hanging brass oil lamp with a lit wick and a second lamp glow in the background against a grey stone wall. The scene suggests a homa or fire ritual, though only the flame, offerings and garlanded figure are clearly visible. The figure's face is not visible, so no identification is made.2012-05-18April 14 20182018-04-14A photograph of a homa fire ceremony with a large flame rising from a square fire pit lined with yellow-gold metal. In the foreground at lower left, a man in a red turban and a saffron-coloured wrap sits with his back partly toward the camera. At right, a seated figure in a red-orange garment with gold ornaments, a gold pendant and a rudraksha-style bead necklace holds a long ladle over the fire, while a brass bowl sits beside the pit. Behind them, several people in white clothes sit on a green mat, some with red-stained arms, and a garland hangs on a stand. The scene is dim and warm-toned, dominated by fire.2014-05-20April 14 20182018-04-14January 06 20182018-01-06A close photograph of a large earthen oil lamp or bowl filled with a tall, bright flame at night. A hand at the left edge holds a bundle of cinnamon-like sticks ready to feed the flame. Behind the pit, a deity murti is decorated with red and white flower garlands and yellow marigold strands, with a golden kalasha and brass lamps on a red-carpeted floor. Green bananas and fruit sit on plates at the right. No people are fully visible beyond the hand and a bare arm.2020-03-15 +2 copies
