A tall white Shiva linga is draped with a red-and-cream striped cloth and a canopy hangs above it, sitting on a raised rocky platform. A figure in cream-white robes and a white head wrap stands near the linga amid smoke or incense, performing the rite. Devotees in mostly white clothing sit on rocks and the ground in the foreground, some in red, orange and saffron garments, many people kneeling or seated on the rocky ground while others stand behind in the shade.2005-03-08December 05 20112011-12-05December 05 20112011-12-05December 02 20092009-12-02November 23 20092009-11-23A outdoor photograph beneath a large banyan tree with aerial roots. In the foreground, a man in an orange saffron wrap with an orange turban and a beaded rudraksha-style mala sits on sandy ground, holding a long stick or wand over a pile of large round stones. Before him sit a brass kalasha-style pot, a brass lamp, a bowl of flower petals and a plate of bananas and fruit. Behind him stand several men in white shirts and dhotis, one with his hands folded in prayer, and women in white saris and a magenta sari. Children watch from the right beside the stone pile. A brass aarti lamp lies at the lower left. The scene appears to be a ritual offering at a sacred stone site under the tree.2003-07-13 +1 copiesOutdoor satsang under a large banyan tree with aerial roots. Sunlight filters through leaves over the gathering.2013-09-13Photograph of an outdoor ritual beneath a large banyan tree with thick aerial roots. A standing man in saffron-orange robes and an orange turban, with a rudraksha mala and white markings on his arm, holds a brass bell in his right hand, with a brass lota-style vessel on a white-and-black patterned mat in front. Behind him, a seated figure in white is near a wooden lectern. On the right, a golden-canopied seat or peetha is draped in orange cloth and garlanded with marigolds, roses and white flowers. Devotees in white saris and white clothing sit and stand around, one woman with hands folded in namaste. A saffron flag on a pole stands near the tree.2004-07-02A photograph of a large outdoor gathering of people seated on the ground under a big banyan tree with hanging aerial roots. Most attendees wear white clothing, and several wear rudraksha or bead malas. Women in yellow, red, orange-and-red patterned kurta and cream shawls are visible, along with a man in an orange shirt seated in the centre-right. Several people sit on pink and purple yoga mats. A standing woman in a patterned top is at upper left, and a man in white stands at back centre. No clearly identifiable a person candidate is evident in this crowd.2009-06-02Outdoor photo under a large spreading banyan tree, with a group of devotees gathered in a shaded clearing of packed earth. In the centre, a man in an orange-saffron dhoti and shawl with a garland stands near a small pink-draped altar and a white arched shrine holding a garlanded deity murti. Nearby, a woman in a pale blue sari and a man in an orange shawl over white clothes hold offerings, and several people in white dhotis and orange stoles stand in a semicircle. A small boy in a striped shirt and a girl in a cream top and red skirt watch from the right, with a reflecting puddle on the ground. This appears to be a puja or padapuja at a shrine, though the exact rite is not legible.2006-12-27
