A brass oil lamp with a lit flame sits on the stone ledge beside a silver cup with a flame, a silver pot, and a plate of red and yellow flower petals with leaves. A metal bowl and a bundle of incense sticks lie to the right, and a small flame burns in the foreground among silver vessels. The priest's arm, marked with white ash lines and holding a small ritual object, is partly visible at left, with a rudraksha-style bead strand hanging at the shoulder. Brass and silver items and a blue-painted wooden structure fill the background. The priest's face is not visible, so no one is identified.2014-08-21Close view of a ritual preparation at a temple-style altar with smoke rising in the foreground. A person in a maroon robe and layered rudraksha malas stands behind a dark stone box, reaching toward a yellow substance, possibly turmeric. Nearby, a silver tray holds several ornate silver bowls and cups with lids. In the foreground sits a dark stone mortar and pestle beside a white conch-shell and a woven basket. The cloth on the altar is striped purple and pink. Silver lamps and metal items are visible in the background.2017-12-10December 20 20172017-12-20 +2 copiesNovember 05 20172017-11-05November 05 20172017-11-05A close photograph of a homa fire ritual. A seated figure in red-orange robes and rudraksha malas holds a golden ceremonial ladle or sceptre over a flame rising from a dark stone or metal fire pit. Silver and brass ritual vessels, a small bowl and a pestle-like implement sit in the foreground, with flowers in silver containers and a drum-like object at the right edge. Only the lower body, hands and forearms are visible, so no face is shown. The flame and smoke are the strongest visual focus, set against warm red fabric.2017-11-05October 23 20172017-10-23A seated figure in a rust-orange garment with a rudraksha mala and gold armband sits on a striped cloth at an outdoor ritual space at night. A dark, swept-back hairstyle and gold waist ornament are visible. Before them are bowls of herbs and grains, a stone mortar and pestle, a silver kalasha, and a metal oil lamp. A square fire pit with a yellow-bordered base holds a burning fire. Behind is a silver-decorated seat and a white-and-red striped shrine with a deity murti under a white canopy.2017-09-14
