A photograph of a shaved-headed priest seated on an ornate gold throne with carved lion-head arms, wearing a white dhoti with maroon border, a gold necklace and a red-and-white tilak. He reaches out to touch the crown of a kneeling man in a white shirt and dark-framed glasses, who has his head bowed toward him. Behind them a red-and-white striped backdrop, a black stone deity carving, golden kalasha-style vessels and brass lamps sit on a stone altar, with a figure in orange robes partly visible at the upper right. The setting suggests a blessing or darshan in a temple courtyard.2011-08-10A young man with a shaved head, white forehead tilak and a gold chain with red-brown bordered white dhoti sits on an ornate gold-leafed throne with floral carved backrest. Beside him, a man in white kurta and white trousers bends forward and touches his shoulder with folded hands, a devotee offering respect. Behind them, a bald man in a light shirt stands near an open cream door with a 'NO ADMISSION' sign, and a red-cushioned low table with a yellow marigold garland sits in the foreground. Orange-painted walls frame the scene.2010-09-28A photograph of a ritual scene in a plain orange-walled room. A seated figure on an ornate gold throne with carved lion-head armrests wears white dhoti and shawl with maroon borders, a gold necklace and a white tripundra on the forehead, and holds a small bowl while applying white paste to the forehead of a bowing man in white kurta and dhoti with a gold bracelet. A third man stands in the background at an open doorway wearing a striped shirt and rudraksha mala, and a sign reads NO ADMISSION. A red cushion with a yellow flower garland sits in the foreground.2010-09-28November 11 20132013-11-11A photograph in an orange-walled courtyard beside an open cream door marked NO ADMISSION. A seated man on an ornate gold throne with carved lion-head arms wears a white dhoti with a maroon border, a gold chain, and white ash markings on his forehead and arms; he holds a small brass bowl and gestures with his right hand. Facing him, a bald standing man in a white short-sleeved shirt and white trousers bends forward with hands clasped, listening. A red cushion and a yellow marigold garland sit in the foreground on a red cloth. Because the page names a morning paduka puja and the seated figure's cues are distinctive, the seated figure is a person by appearance: long swept-back hair is not shown, but the throne, saffron-and-gold ceremonial dress is absent, so identification is uncertain.2010-09-28May 08 20122012-05-08July 23 20142014-07-23May 13 20142014-05-13A seated man in a rust-orange robe with a gold-bead mala and gold necklace, with white vibhuti marks on his forehead and long swept-back hair, extends his right hand to touch the forehead of a kneeling man in a white kurta. The seated figure holds a folded white paper in his other hand. Behind them, a golden naga hood and a projected screen with a picture are visible, and a monk in orange stands in the background. Setting is a warm-lit indoor hall with red curtains.2014-01-02October 15 20102010-10-15A photograph of a ceremonial initiation in a hall with white walls, a ceiling fan and a gold-framed throne. A seated figure in orange turban, orange robes, a gold necklace and a red-and-gold bracelet extends a hand toward the head of a kneeling devotee in a white shirt and orange shawl. Nearby, saffron-robed men with shaved heads and rudraksha malas stand and watch, and a woman in a dark red shawl and beads stands at right among the seated audience.
