A procession ascends a covered stairway inside a building with grey stone-patterned walls and metal railings. A multicoloured canopy with tassels and rooster motifs is carried over the group. Leading figures wear orange and saffron cloths; one bare-chested man with a tilak and a wrapped white cloth carries a floral arrangement of roses, lilies and garlands on a tray. A shaved-headed man in a white dhoti walks bare-chested and bare-footed, his body smeared with white ash, and another man in an orange shawl wears a garland. White-clad attendants in white shirts and dhotis follow along the corridor. A bare-chested man on the right wears a rudraksha mala and red-bordered dhoti. The scene suggests a temple or ashram ritual procession.2010-02-02February 02 20102010-02-02January 02 20102010-01-02 +1 copiesFebruary 02 20102010-02-02September 26 20162016-09-26 +1 copiesFebruary 02 20102010-02-02February 02 20102010-02-02A festival procession climbs a red-and-white striped stone staircase under a clear blue sky. At centre, a smiling man in a red sannyasi-style robe wears a long white flower garland and walks behind a large decorated ceremonial parasol with coloured tassels and a trident motif. Nearby, a man in orange robes holds a silver kalasha pot topped with green leaves, and another in orange holds an object wrapped in cloth. A man in white dhoti and a pink garland stands among them, and on the left a drummer beats a barrel drum while a horn player blows a long brass horn. Devotees in white clothes and orange robes line the steps, several women in white with hands pressed together, and a photographer with a camera stands above. The event appears to be a procession toward a temple.2009-06-09December 12 20162016-12-12October 15 20082008-10-15 +1 copiesJune 09 20092009-06-09A photograph inside a stone temple corridor with worn carved pillars, a dark sanctum doorway flanked by gold-tipped doors, and a steel railing on the right. A crowd of men walks toward the shrine. In the centre, a man with long dark hair and a beard wears a red-maroon dhoti and a large multicolour flower garland, hands held together. Nearby, a bearded man in a yellow shawl and white dhoti wears a red-white beaded necklace, and a bare-chested man in white dhoti has gold chains. Several shirtless men wear rudraksha malas, and uniformed staff in white shirts line the path.2018-04-29
