Outdoor shrine under a leafy tree showing a black stone deity murti. The murti sits on a black pedestal with a white arched stone frame behind it. Its base is covered in red-orange painted stones and a small brass lamp and offerings sit before it. Two men stand before it: one in a white shirt and grey trousers holding a cloth or item, and another in white dhoti and shirt with hands together in prayer, standing barefoot on a concrete platform. A black and white dotted border surrounds the base. Dry earth surrounds the platform.2010-12-16July 07 20102010-07-07 +1 copiesDecember 16 20092009-12-16A bald priest with a bare upper body, wearing white dhoti and shawl with gold borders, stands at left holding an oil lamp up toward a large black stone Dakshinamurti murti seated under a silver arch on a red-painted base beneath a leafy tree. The murti has multiple arms holding a drum, a flame and other objects, with a crown and red flower garland, and is dusted with yellow powder. Offerings of flowers and turmeric-like powder lie on the pedestal, and a small stone bench and a black-stone plaque sit in front. The scene is an outdoor shrine ritual of aarti before the deity.2011-09-24 +1 copiesJuly 11 20102010-07-11March 12 20122012-03-12March 26 20122012-03-26Outdoor photograph beneath a leafy banyan tree at a shrine. A large black stone murti with multiple arms and an orange wrap with a red headband stands within a white ornate arch, seated on a red-painted rock pile with a black-and-white dotted base. A woman in a white sari with hands folded stands at left. A man in a pale shirt and white dhoti kneels barefoot on a dark stone platform in front of the murti. A standing man in an orange kurta faces the shrine at right, and an elderly person in orange robes stands at far left, with more people in white at the right edge. The scene suggests pada puja and darshan at the shrine.2010-07-14April 03 20122012-04-03 +1 copiesA woman in a white sari with a red-bordered edge and an orange shawl stands at the left, her palms pressed together in reverent greeting toward a large dark stone deity murti of Dakshinamurthy seated in front of a white carved arch surrounded by trees. The murti wears an orange and red dhoti, an orange-red headcloth and a long rudraksha mala, and holds ritual objects in its several hands. A dark plinth with a reclining figure at its base stands on a bed of red-painted rock. A dark stone plaque at the front reads the shrine name, and a yantra is inscribed in white on the step below.2010-10-19March 24 20122012-03-24A bare-backed man with long dark hair and an orange cloth around his waist stands at left, raising a long strand of yellow beads toward a black stone murti. The murti has a white dhoti-like cloth, a red and yellow headband, a gold necklace and a red-yellow-green garland with white flowers, and it is set within an ornate silver arched frame amid green foliage. This appears to be a puja or abhishekam scene at an outdoor shrine. The bare-backed man appears to be a priest or devotee, and no identity is asserted from appearance.2006-07-23 +1 copies
