May 04 20132013-05-04January 02 20132013-01-02A ritual initiation scene. A man in an orange-red dhoti and shawl, with white vibhuti lines, a red kumkum dot, gold ornaments, a long rudraksha mala and a stacked bun, holds a sheet of paper and reads from it while placing his hand on the head of a bare-chested devotee kneeling before him. The devotee wears a white dhoti with a yellow border and a rudraksha mala. Two more attendants in white and orange-red stand behind, one in a white dhoti with a red bindi, and a dark curtain and warm lamp light form the background. The robed figure's appearance shows several cues associated with the a person description, though this cannot be confirmed from appearance alone. The blessing figure has long dark hair swept back, wears a tilak, a small gold earring, layered rudraksha-style beads and a heavy ceremonial gold bead necklace with a crystal mala, and holds a sheet of paper in the other hand. Behind them a second robed figure in ochre stands near a maroon curtain and a yellow banner, with a few other people at the edge of the frame. The blessing figure has distinctive long swept-back hair, ochre robes and ornate gold necklaces, consistent with the Swamiji (probable) candidate; the kneeling man is a devotee receiving blessing.2013-05-04A photograph of a crowded ashram hall. At left, a man in an orange striped shirt and a younger man with hands in anjali stand before them. Behind, draped maroon curtains with yellow and blue patterned bands and many onlookers in saffron and white clothing fill the room.2013-03-01A bare-chested man in an orange-saffron shawl wears a long gold necklace with green beads and round gold bells, plus a dark swept-back hairstyle and gold earrings. He places his right palm on the forehead of a shaved-headed man in orange clothing who kneels with hands pressed together in namaste and rudraksha malas around his neck.
