Garlands of red, yellow and green flowers hang from the canopy and chains. A woman-appearing attendant in orange sari-style garment with long hair and orange head wrap, in the foreground, holds a brass aarti lamp with lit flames toward the throne. Gold-carved panels, brass lamp stands and standing figurine statues decorate the stage; striped colourful cloths cover the floor.2017-08-13August 13 20172017-08-13A photograph inside a stone-pillared shrine at an outdoor altar, where a priest in orange robes stands with his back to the camera holding a lit lamp toward a deity murti of Shiva and a consort, decorated with marigold and multicolored flower garlands and a red crown. Two other orange-robed attendants sit at left, and brass lamps, brass vessels, bowls of offerings, rudraksha strands and garlands surround the platform draped in orange cloth. The setting appears to be a puja or aarti at a shrine; no clearly identifiable a person is shown in appearance-based terms, only a priest in orange.2008-12-27Photograph of a temple ritual before a golden shrine with a richly decorated deity murti of Meenakshi seated on a gold throne, adorned with an orange and gold sari, jewelled ornaments, a crown, and garlands of yellow and orange flowers. Two figures in saffron-orange dhotis, bare-backed with long braided hair and white body markings, stand at right facing the deity, one holding a ceremonial staff. A figure in a long pink floral garland and orange clothing stands at left, hands raised in worship, and a figure in maroon-gold cloth sits in the foreground. Golden lion pillars and hanging brass bells frame the altar.2017-05-05May 05 20172017-05-05A photo of a temple-style ritual stage decorated with marigold garlands and white flowers. Three men in saffron-orange dhotis with orange turbans and rudraksha necklaces stand with their backs to the camera, holding oil lamps with flames. Ahead, an ornate golden canopied altar holds a deity murti and a seated figure in an orange robe and turban. Women in white and cream saris stand at the sides with folded hands, and a woman in a red sari stands at the right. Pillars with lit pink and purple lighting frame the stage. This appears to be an aarti or puja at the altar.2017-07-09May 24 20162016-05-24June 10 20172017-06-10September 15 20152015-09-15A photograph of a ritual before an ornate golden shrine with lion-figure pillars and a golden arched canopy. A large deity murti seated on a golden throne is adorned with orange and gold garments, a crown, a jewelled necklace and marigold garlands, holding a sword-like ceremonial weapon. Several people stand with their backs to the camera: a man in a red-and-gold garment at lower left, a long-haired figure with a pink-and-white flower garland, and two men in saffron-orange dhotis and shawls with long braided hair and white body markings. A lit oil lamp is held near the deity. Bells hang above. Visible context suggests a coronation-style abhishekam or puja.2017-05-05
