Close-up photograph of a large mound of reddish-brown earth in the foreground, with small pebbles scattered across its loose surface. Behind it, out of focus, several people stand in a crowd: a figure in white dhoti and white shirt on the right, a person in a pink garment at the right edge, and figures in orange and purple saris and dark clothing in the background, with a green leafy branch above. The scene appears to be an outdoor ground-breaking or earth-moving gathering, with the soil as the sharp focal point.2016-09-11September 11 20162016-09-11September 15 20162016-09-15Outdoor funeral-rite scene on bare red earth beside a freshly heaped mound of soil strewn with marigold petals and yellow turmeric-coloured flowers. In the foreground a bare-chested man in white dhoti pours water from a clay pot over the mound while another man in white dhoti and white shirt kneels and tends the earth. Behind them stand several men in saffron-orange robes wearing rudraksha malas; a man in the centre holds a long white-tipped staff, and a bearded man in reddish-brown robes stands on the right. Two ornate umbrellas, one orange with fringe and tassels and one red, are held above the group. Women in saris and older men in white watch from behind, and a metal-frame tent stands at left.2017-02-04February 04 20172017-02-04Outdoor funeral-rite scene at a fresh mound of red earth strewn with yellow and orange flower petals.
