A third man on the right wears a white dhoti with a gold border, a rudraksha mala and beaded bracelets, holding a red cloth. Deep red velvet drapes form the backdrop. The shawl-pulling exchange appears to be part of a devotee's interaction at a seated gathering. The seated man shows few distinctive a person cues beyond the red shawl, so identity remains uncertain; roles are given only from visible clothing and actions.2013-05-19September 11 20152015-09-11 +1 copiesA seated figure in an orange-saffron turban, saffron robe and a long white and multicoloured flower garland, wearing a rudraksha mala and gold chain, receives an offering on a golden throne (peetha) with a gold lion armrest. A person in a red-orange turban, saffron-and-gold wrapped robe and a long red and white flower garland stands at left, smiling and receiving oranges from a cardboard box held by a man in a white striped shirt at right. Beside them, a saffron-robed attendant with a dark rudraksha mala holds a silver bowl, and another monk in a maroon robe with a rudraksha mala and white tilak smiles. An older man in white with a tilak stands at far right. Behind them is a glass-front bookcase and a gilded red throne-like chair at left.2015-06-05August 20 20142014-08-20 +1 copiesA seated figure in a saffron-orange turban, orange and gold robes and a green-and-white beaded garland sits on an ornate gold throne with red cushions, extending a hand to an older man in a white short-sleeved striped shirt and white dhoti who bends forward to receive or offer an object. Behind the throne a standing attendant in orange robes, a yellow headband and a rudraksha-style mala holds a trident-like staff, while a shaved-headed attendant in orange and gold sits cross-legged on a red patterned rug beside brass oil lamps and a brass kalasha-style lamp stand. A woman in a red top with white beads watches from the right. Red drapery and a decorated backdrop complete the setting.A seated figure with a shaved head? No: a figure with long dark hair wearing a rudraksha-style beaded necklace, a gold bangle and a maroon-and-gold draped garment places one raised hand on the forehead of a man in a white kurta with an orange-red shawl. The recipient stands with palms together at his waist while the officiant holds a folded paper in the other hand. Behind them stand women in white and orange clothing and gold-embroidered draperies, with a golden ornamental panel at left. The scene appears to be a blessing or darshan ritual inside a temple setting.2015-10-24
