November 07 20112011-11-07A photograph of a row of women in white and cream saris with gold borders and orange-red shawls, standing side by side and offering grains or rice from cupped hands toward a person out of frame at the right. Several women wear bangles and earrings; some wear glasses. A woman in a white sari at the left holds her hands near the offering. The dark red curtained backdrop suggests an indoor hall. The scene suggests an offering or annadan-style ritual, with women passing rice-like grains forward from their palms.2011-11-07November 07 20112011-11-07July 10 20132013-07-10 +2 copiesJuly 10 20132013-07-10 +2 copiesA photo of a group of women in red and orange saris and salwar-style outfits at an indoor ceremony, eating or being fed a yellow grain or prasad mixture from cupped hands. In the foreground, two women in cream saris with orange-red shawls and green-bordered sari edges stand facing each other; the woman on the right raises her hand to the other's face, applying a mark, while the woman on the left holds an offering plate. Behind them, several people in white dhotis and cream garments with yellow sashes stand and move among rows of leaf plates with food and small brass or steel cups placed on mats. A man on the left has a shaved head and wears a white upper cloth. Light fixtures and windows line the back wall.2011-03-05Three women in an indoor hall share an offering from a stainless steel plate of yellow prasadam. The woman at left, in a white sari with a gold-patterned border and an orange shawl, leans forward and serves the food with her right hand. The woman in the centre wears white with a gold border, an orange shawl, a rudraksha mala and glasses, and holds the plate. At right, a woman in an orange sari with a maroon border and rudraksha beads kneels with her palms joined. Behind them, others in white and orange move through the hall, and a black speaker stands at the right edge.2009-10-17A photograph of women in a bare white-walled hall serving food at a seated meal. In the foreground a woman in a cream sari with a yellow border and a red-orange shawl looks down, a red bindi on her forehead. Beside her a woman in a cream sari with green borders and an orange shawl holds food in her hands, and a woman with a long braid and orange shawl reaches forward to serve. Many women in cream and yellow-bordered saris with orange shawls stand along rows of banana-leaf plates and metal tumblers on the floor. Shaven-headed men in white dhotis appear in the background. Ceiling lights and small wall-mounted lamps light the room.2011-03-05October 23 20152015-10-23Photo of a large hall during a ritual gathering. Another woman in orange with gold trim sits in front, eyes lowered, her hands held near a plate. Behind them a long table is laid with many brass and steel plates of food offerings, and monastic-looking people in orange robes stand along the right side. Two lit oil lamps glow on the back wall, and a golden chair stands at the left with a figure in red seated near it. Bright yellow flowers appear at the left edge.2016-02-23 +1 copies
