A large round aluminium tray filled with a cooked, golden-brown rice dish mixed with vegetables and scattered with fresh chopped coriander leaves. A long metal serving ladle rests across the tray. At the right edge, the bare foot and light-coloured cloth of a person standing on bare earth is partly visible. A metal pot of yellow liquid sits at the lower left on the ground.

Close-up photograph of food served at an annadanam meal. A large polished stainless steel bowl in the centre holds bright yellow turmeric-tinted rice studded with red chilli pieces, curry leaves and mustard seeds. To the right, a second steel bowl contains plain white cooked rice, and at the left edge a bowl holds dark brown pieces, possibly jaggery or dried fruit. The steel bowls rest on a yellow cloth printed with a red and brown floral pattern. No people are visible.

Close-up photograph of a heaped offering of flattened rice (poha) mixed with green curry leaves, red peanuts and split lentils, arranged on a brown leaf-lined plate on a deep red cloth. Behind it, crisp round papads and fried snacks sit on banana leaves, with a small bowl of yellow lentils at the left edge. No people are visible; the scene reflects a festival food offering such as annadan at a Kailasa celebration.
