The cultural cleansing of the temple based heritage and community represents an affront to the human rights of the affected minority population of Adi Shaiva (ASMT) disciples, their ethnic and religious identities. In addition, the illicit trafficking of cultural properties was being used to finance criminal activities and generate income for caste supremacist groups. These local caste supremacist groups and atheist terrorist groups remained dormant as long as their supremacy was sustained and un-revolted by the Pontiffs of the Aadheenams. They continue running their ‘terrorist’ empire, unseen from the public eye pressurizing the spiritual leaders.

On 15 April, 2014, His Divine Holiness Bhagavan Sri Nithyananda Paramashivam was coronated as the pontiff (spiritual and administrative head) of the 5 Adi Shaivite Mutts (ancient monasteries). Sri Arunachala Jnandesikar Swami Temple & Mutt in Panchanadikulam, Vedaranyam Sri Po.Ka. Sadhukkal Mutt, Vedaranyam Sri Palsamy Mutt, Thanjavur Sri Sankara Swami Mutt, Thanjavur Sri Somanatha Swami Mutt and Temple, Thiruvarur
