A temple-style worship scene in a hall with a golden crown placed on a dark deity murti draped in multicolour garlands of yellow, orange, red and green flowers. A saffron-robed priest with vibhuti marks on his forehead and ornate gold-and-white adornment leans over the murti, placing or adjusting the crown. Beside him a man in white dhoti and shirt holds a conch-like instrument to his mouth. In the foreground a woman in an orange top faces the altar with her hands joined. Brass oil lamps, a brass kalasha-style vessel, small brass cups and flower garlands surround the altar; a large ornate deity figure with a jewelled necklace stands to the right. A pillar behind is painted with elephant motifs.2007-11-26A photograph of a temple ritual in progress. A large black deity murti is dressed with a wide garland of yellow, red, green and pink flowers and a golden crown, with a red and blue cloth draped over its shoulder. A woman in a bright orange robe with long dark hair reaches up to adjust the garland, while a woman in a white sari with gold border stands behind her. Another woman in white sari with gold border stands at left, assisting at the deity. Behind them a dark wall and a white-tiled wall frame the scene.2007-11-09December 05 20142014-12-05December 19 20162016-12-19July 13 20152015-07-13 +1 copiesOctober 18 20152015-10-18A photograph of a temple ritual before a golden arched frame. A man with long, swept-back dark hair wears a saffron-orange robe and touches the hands of a deity murti with a gold crown and red silk sari trimmed with silver. A second person in a white dhoti with a red border and gold necklace stands at the lower left, bent forward. The murti has a gold crown and a jewelled necklace, and is garlanded with orange, yellow, red and blue flower strands. A brass oil lamp with a bird-shaped finial stands at right. Swamiji (probable): the man wears a saffron robe and long swept-back hair, the cues described above.2007-04-18Two shirtless priests in white dhotis perform a ritual before a pair of ornate deity murtis of Meenakshi and Sundareswarar, richly adorned with jewellery, crowns and white and yellow flower garlands. The priest at left, wearing a green embroidered turban, has his head bowed while another priest in a gold-coloured turban raises flower garlands toward the deities. Behind them stands a gold-framed altar and a bright green canopy with red drapes. The scene appears to be a wedding-style deity ceremony, marked by garlands, bejewelled murtis and ornate gold decoration.2015-10-18September 03 20132013-09-03October 18 20152015-10-18July 31 20152015-07-31December 02 20172017-12-02
