Seated on a low platform at right, a bare-chested figure with long swept-back dark hair wears saffron-orange cloth and holds a walking stick; a white cloth is draped over the seat in front of him. Behind him stand several women and men in saffron-orange robes holding tall wooden staffs with orange pennants. Before them, rows of seated devotees in white clothing with white shawls sit on mats in front of small brass oil lamps and offering dishes arranged on a dark stone platform, with a brass kalasha vessel nearby. Many devotees wear white garments and some have garlands or bead necklaces. The scene suggests a guru puja style gathering, with the seated figure a probable Swamiji; in_person label assigned on appearance cues of long hair, saffron clothing and bead adornment.2006-10-08 +1 copiesJuly 19 20052005-07-192004-JUNE-032004-06-03July 21 20052005-07-21A large seated congregation gathers beneath a sprawling banyan tree for a guru puja. A man with long dark hair and an orange shawl stands at the centre, gesturing with one hand, next to a microphone stand and a brass bowl. Before him a square altar of white bricks holds brass vessels, a small kalasha-like pot and white offerings. Around the altar sit rows of devotees: women and girls in white saris and white garments with orange shawls, long braids visible, plus a few men in white and orange. Two standing men in white and orange shawls flank the central figure. Striped mats and a blue cloth cover the ground. The central figure has long hair, an orange wrap and distinctive presentation, consistent with the page's a person label, but identity is uncertain from appearance alone.2006-09-21
