July 31 20172017-07-31Photo 11710748A photo of a large dark stone Nandi bull statue being bathed with water poured from a golden vessel. A young man with a bare chest and orange cloth wrapped at the waist, with a rudraksha mala around his neck, stands behind the bull pouring water over its head and back. Water streams down the grey stone. In the background, red flags and rows of seated devotees in orange and white are visible on tiered steps, with an oil lamp in the foreground at the base of the statue.2017-08-07February 26 20172017-02-26February 26 20172017-02-26A young boy in orange-saffron dhoti and shawl, bare-chested with a white forehead mark and a beaded necklace, pours water from a brass vessel over a large black stone Nandi bull statue. The bull is adorned with a carved chest ornament and collar. Behind him, red stone steps hold small stone lingams, brass pots, a brass vessel and offering bowls. A second orange-clad boy stands at right, and a third child in orange sits partly visible at the lower right, near brass containers. This appears to be an abhishekam offering to the Nandi statue.2017-07-31July 03 20172017-07-03 +1 copiesDecember 05 20162016-12-05 +1 copiesJuly 31 20172017-07-31 +1 copiesMay 29 20172017-05-29August 07 20172017-08-07A photograph of a ghat-side ritual at a riverbank. In the centre, a young shaved-headed priest with a horizontal tilak and a rudraksha mala, bare-chested and wearing an orange dhoti, pours water from a brass vessel over a dark stone Nandi bull statue draped with orange and yellow marigold garlands. Behind him, seated on red stone steps, a bare-chested man in white dhoti and a woman in pink and white sit among other devotees and onlookers, some with brass pots. At left, a figure in an orange garment sits with back turned. Red flags stand in the background, and the scene reads as abhishekam to Nandi.2016-12-19
