A photograph of an outdoor ritual at a copper-toned shrine structure decorated with yellow marigold garlands. A shaved-headed priest in a red-orange robe with a saffron-edged dhoti, rudraksha mala and a gold pendant bends forward to tend the base of the structure. A younger attendant in a white dhoti with a gold-bordered cloth stands behind him. Green trees and palms fill the background, and a grey dish antenna is visible at upper left. Two people are visible.2013-12-18Outdoor temple ritual at dusk among palm trees. A bald man with white and sandal markings on his forehead and arms, wearing a saffron-orange dhoti and a saffron shawl with a rudraksha mala, leans forward and holds a small bowl or cup toward a gilded copper dhwajastambha flagstaff. The flagstaff is wrapped with yellow-orange marigold garlands and has a carved deity panel, and a dark stone nandi or elephant-like sculpture with white markings sits in front. A rope hangs from the top of the pole and a white cloth lies on the platform. Two hands of attendants or photographers appear at the right edge, one holding a camera. The scene suggests a dhwajarohanam flag-hoisting ceremony.2013-12-18December 18 20132013-12-18December 18 20132013-12-18December 18 20132013-12-18December 18 20132013-12-18April 23 20122012-04-23Outdoor photo of a man in a rust-red and gold-bordered dhoti and shawl, wearing white and gold-bead garlands and red flower garlands, scattering yellow flower petals from his right hand over an ornate carved wooden canopy shrine decorated with yellow and red marigold garlands. A palm tree and green foliage stand behind. Another person's hand holds a small vessel at right. A dwajarohanam-style flag-hoisting ceremony is suggested by the page, but the scene shows petal offering at a wooden shrine.2014-08-31A photograph of a dhwajarohanam, flagpole consecration, at an outdoor temple site. A large copper-coloured kalasha-topped flagpole base stands at left, wrapped in yellow and red marigold garlands with a broom-like bundle tied to it, and carved floral bands on its pedestal. At right, a bare-chested man in a dark red dhoti with a yellow border and a rudraksha mala stands beside the pillar, holding a small bell in one hand and a red flower in the other, while another person's hand offers a metal vessel from the right edge. Palm trees and greenery fill the background, and red petals are scattered on the platform.2015-09-08A standing priest in a maroon and gold-bordered dhoti and shawl, wearing a rudraksha mala, a marigold and red-flower garland, and a flower garland on his shoulders, rings a handheld bell while holding a small object near a tall copper dhwajasthamba (flagstaff) at Dwajarohanam in Bidadi. The copper pillar base is carved with ornamental motifs and draped with a marigold garland, and flower petals lie on the stone platform. Palm trees and greenery surround the scene, and a metal vessel is held at the right edge. Copyright and source text overlays the image.
