Night-time outdoor crowd gathered in front of a white tent at a Tamil Nadu ashram event. A very large orange-toned banner portrait on the right shows a smiling man wearing an orange turban with a red bindi, shaded in warm orange. The banner's appearance is a depiction on a poster; no identity is asserted from the face. Dozens of devotees stand close together, many in white shirts and white dhotis, a woman in a yellow-orange sari with a white flower in her hair, and an older woman in a pink-red sari at the left. A red and white banner at left carries Tamil text. Dark night sky, bamboo poles, and strings of decorative red, purple, and green fabric bunting frame the scene.2012-01-08January 06 20122012-01-06October 13 20062006-10-13Night-time photograph of a crowd of villagers, mostly women in saris and a child, pressing toward a green-railed vehicle to receive food. A man in an orange shirt and blue shawl gestures with an outstretched hand while another man in a striped shirt and green cap stands on the vehicle holding a metal pot. A large orange banner on the right shows a portrait of a smiling figure in an orange turban and orange robes, with Tamil text printed alongside. Women wear yellow, green, pink and grey garments, and one woman has a flower in her braid. The scene suggests an annadaan food distribution.2012-01-06Night photo of a relief distribution on a dirt road beside a small white van with a wooden frame. Another person in pink and orange clothing is partly visible behind the cart. The warm orange lighting and small lamp glow dominate the scene.2012-01-06December 31 20152015-12-31A nighttime street procession in a South Indian village. In the centre, a man in a white shirt and white dhoti holds a framed portrait garlanded with a yellow-and-white flower garland and red blossoms; the portrait shows a robed figure in orange with a rudraksha-style necklace, and is labelled in Tamil. Beside him, another white-clad man in a dhoti walks at the front, and a man in white to the right follows. Children in blue, pink and striped clothes walk in front, one girl holding a small red packet. Women in saris carrying a brass vessel and a small plant stand behind, with more people and trees in the dark background.
