Smoke rises from the lamp.

A long-haired man in orange saffron robes and a rudraksha mala sits cross-legged on a raised platform, reaching toward a devotee's cupped hands while holding a small vessel. A man with long, swept-back dark hair and a red tilak on his forehead performs aarti before a deity murti. He wears an orange saffron garment, a white and red flower garland, a rudraksha mala and gold bangles, and holds a lit oil lamp with a flame in one hand and a bell in the other. The murti, dressed in orange with a jeweled crown, is adorned with yellow and red flower garlands, gold hands and ornaments, and a backdrop of colourful garlands and green drapery. The appearance-based label Swamiji (probable) applies to the man performing the aarti, based on the long hair, saffron clothing and rudraksha mala.

A photograph of a temple-style ritual at a deity shrine. A central man with a shaved head, wire-rimmed glasses, rudraksha mala and a reddish-brown dhoti and shawl performs an aarti with a lamp and a bell-like implement in front of a decorated deity murti. The murti is draped with white and yellow flower garlands and wears gold ornaments, set in a gilded arched shrine with a pink sequined base. Two attendants in orange-saffron turbans and robes sit nearby; the one at left has his hands folded in prayer. Brass vessels, green leaves and a small offering stand on the yellow platform in front. Behind them, ornate flower-covered thrones are visible.

A long-haired man in a saffron-orange garment and a gold bead necklace stands at a yellow-coated lingam, pouring or applying liquid from a small vessel, in a ritual abhishekam. A second man in orange robes with grey hair and a beard holds a silver tray with offerings at left, and a brass oil lamp stands at right against a dark background. The long-haired man wears a red tilak on the forehead and has distinctive long swept hair and gold beads, which are appearance cues for a person. Additional figures in orange appear behind at right.

A photograph inside a temple shrine where two saffron-robed priests sit before a copper yantra-shaped object on a low table. The man in front, with a rudraksha mala and bare upper body, holds a brass bell in one hand and a lit oil lamp in the other, with a flame visible. The second priest on the left wears orange robes, a gold pendant necklace, glasses and an orange head wrap, his hands folded in prayer. Behind them stand brass lamps, marigold-type garlands in pink, purple and white, and red and gold silk cloth. Brass pots, flowers and leaves sit on the altar. Another orange-clad person appears at the left edge.

A photograph of an abhishekam being performed at a temple-like stage. A central figure in saffron-orange robes with long swept-back dark hair, a red tilak, and a heavy gold necklace of large beads pours liquid from a golden vessel over a dark stone lingam on a black pedestal. Behind him, a second saffron-robed attendant in an orange turban pours from a gold pot on the left, and a bald man in orange sits at the lower left. A seated man in white with a tilak kneels beside the lingam. To the right stand a golden peetha-style ornate frame, a gilded deity murti draped in red and white garlands, and a brass oil lamp on the lower right. A dark red curtain forms the backdrop. The page indicates the event is an October 2009 Diwali/Lalita Trishati-related abhishekam, but the visible scene is the abhishekam itself.
