Palm fronds and leafy decorations hang from the pillars. A few figures stand or sit near the entrance, and a large dark iron cooking or offering vessel sits on the ground in the foreground beside a wooden cart. No identifiable a person is visible; the scene shows the temple architecture and preparations.2006-09-23September 23 20122012-09-23July 13 20132013-07-13September 23 20062006-09-23A dim stone temple corridor with carved, studded wooden doors on either side and a row of small triangular pennant flags strung across the ceiling. Two uniformed police officers in khaki walk away from the camera down a brick-paved passage toward a far doorway. Behind them a figure in white dhoti and a few other people stand in the distance. Cardboard boxes are stacked on a ledge at left, and a single ceiling light illuminates the corridor.2012-05-21Night photograph of a large South Indian temple gopuram, a tall tapering stone gateway tower covered in carved sculptural tiers, lit warmly from below. A wet paved processional path leads toward the bright gateway opening. A long colonnade of carved pillars with a railing runs along the left side, and a small open pavilion with ornate carved roof stands at the right. No people are visible.2012-09-23Interior of a stone temple hall with carved granite pillars and a low ceiling lit by hanging bulbs and a ceiling fan. At the far end a golden-framed shrine doorway glows, with a few figures standing in the distance near the sanctum. In the right foreground an elderly man with a shaved head wears a white dhoti and white upper cloth, standing with his back to the camera and facing the shrine. Metal railings and a blue-painted cart or platform line the walkway.2012-02-08
